Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan

Image
Today I've got some more new music for you by a DJ who became a worldwide sensation in such a short time. Martin Garrix has been an absolute monster in the music world. His music has been tearing up the charts, from his initial releases to now. And this new song by Martin Garrix definitely falls into that chart-busting category.  Martin Garrix changes his sound up in this song and takes a future bass approach, which I think is a great direction to go in. We get something that is softer and warmer from the music, instead of your typical louder and bass heavy electronic songs. This one airs on the side of being atmospheric and full of sound. It isn't about filling empty air with sound, rather, Martin Garrix tries to purposefully fill the air he has with carefully constructed sounds. He crafts the song very consciously in order to tell the story that the lyricists come up with. The structure of this song is centered on emotive storylines and moody synths to accompany.Mart...

Vicetone and Zedd

Today I have some awesome music for you from the electronic duo known as Vicetone. One of the characteristics of Vicetone that I love is that they are masters at producing and remixing. Not to say other DJ's cannot. But Vicetone has this incredible creativity woven into their music that I cannot shake. This song is probably my absolute favorite example of their creativity.Vicetone decides to feature an incredibly important man, one who will go down in history because of the amazing things he accomplished. Ladies and gentleman, today I am bringing you a song that has taken a President speech and made it musical verses. As odd as that may seem, Vicetone makes it work really well. To open the song, they have inserted the beginning of one of Obama's speeches. The intro is a little bit longer, but this particular part of Obama's speech sets the song up and the title incredibly well. Vicetone then softly brings in the main rhythmic melody of the song. It flanks Obama's speech...

Kris Kross Amsterdam & Conor Maynard and Rio

Today I have some music for you by the trio of artists known as Kris Kross Amsterdam. This trio of DJs has become pretty popular in the tropical house circuit, and this song is definitely a winner! I will say when I first heard this song I was already a bit biased towards loving it because the song features Conor Maynard. And to be quite honest, he ends up being just as perfect as ever! Kris Kross Amsterdam did a great job of making a song that is soft and light hearted, which makes Conor Maynard a fabulous choice. His soft and soulful voice is such lovely compliment to the sweeter tropical sound that Kris Kross Amsterdam provides. This song bridges quite a few different genres together in a way that makes this song really pop. R&B, funk, hip hop, and soul are blasted with a tropical flavor to get this song. This song hits you with that tropical sound from the get-go, introducing more tropical sounding percussion. I really like what Kris Kross Amsterdam did with the electric guitar...

Steve Aoki & Louis Tomlinson and Vicetone

Image
Today I have some music for you that is rather new and quite important this year. This song is a collaboration done by Steve Aoki and One Direction's Louis Tomlinson. Now we have already seen one member of the famous boy band go out on his own and start a brand of himself completely. Last year we also saw Niall Horan release his first ever single, which mind you, is quite endearing. But what makes this song and this year important is that it officially marks the solo releases of each One Direction member. Over the course of the year, each remaining member of One Direction is releasing a solo project whether it be a single or album. This song is on that list of releases! Now this is a very interesting collaboration in my opinion. Steve Aoki has always been this fiery ball of energy and fun and craziness. It is weirdly fitting that Louis Tomlinson is the featured vocalist on this track because his nature is quite similar. Wild and goofy for sure, you can tell that there is chemistry ...

Nicky Romero and Benny Benassi

Today I have some music that takes us back to a genre I haven't posted about in a long while. EDM music has grown and changed a lot recently, but I will say, I miss the EDM from earlier. In just these past few years, electronic music has changed quite a bit, focusing more on pop music and taking more of the bass heavy trap route. But the style of EDM we once had, the style of music that first had me falling in love with electronic music, is one that we don't hear much anymore. So today, I wanted to take it back some and write about an artist we haven't heard from in a long while. Nicky Romero is an incredibly popular DJ, especially within the European scene. He has performed at so many huge festivals like Ultra and Tomorrowland. He has been quite under the radar for a while now and seems to have taken a break from original production. While Nicky Romero hasn't really put out any new music, I am just as happy to go through his older music to reminisce and era of electron...

R3hab and Drake

Image
Today I have a remix for you by an artist who absolutely killed it with this. R3hab is normally a more house oriented DJ, with explosive choruses and high energy songs. But his remix of Rihanna's song is one of the best remixes I have heard. I love the way he took this song and made it something completely different. From the tone of the song to stylistic elements, to even parts of the melody, there is an originality to this remix that I have not heard from any of the other remixes of this song. Plus, this version has an incredibly good sound, one that is pleasing to the ears and almost dangerously addictive. What I find very interesting is how R3hab still manages to make this song something that is seductive despite the fact that it kind of steps away from the R&B vibe of the original song. The original version of the song definitely has a seductive sound to it, but the remix that R3hab has done is a sensual version of the song. He has turned the song into a strange mix of bei...

R3hab & Dyro and JETFIRE & Happy Enemies

Today I have some good, solid electronic house music for you. In particular, I have some Dutch house for you, by the one and only Afrojack. What is Dutch house you ask? In a nutshell, Dirty Dutch is that electronic music style that incorporates a lot of Latin beats and rhythms, with less emphasis on the bass and high pitched synths. Actually when you listen to Dutch house, we don't really hear that high pitched and squeaky synth that we get from other genres. Which I am not complaining about because that gets to be way too much for me sometimes. But this song is actually the remix done by R3hab, another Dutch house artist, and Dyro. This remix is a fast paced, action packed song. I mean this is the kind of song that can keep you pumped up for hours, especially when on the workout grind. This is actually on my workout playlist because if is so full of energy and has that relentless thump that makes it nice and rhythmic. R3hab is an artist who has dabbled in different styles of music...
