Vance Joy and Dead Poet's Society
Today I have music for you by a singer who goes by Vance Joy. This song is really cute and has a great upbeat sound to it. This is really nice because indie music like this is starting to come to the forefront, but Vance Joy really stays true to his style. Another artist he could be compared to is Of Monsters and Men. However, Vance Joy has a different involvement in indie folk. This song has a great combination of genres in it. The ukulele brings this really nice folksy sound while also providing a slightly tropical and reggae sound. When the bongo drums enter, that is when we really get to hear that fusion of genres. This song uses a couple of different types of percussion in it. The conventional drum set provides the beat and the bongos have a harmonizing percussion line. You can also hear the beats provided by other drums like the snare drum. The way all of these beat providers stay together impeccably well and remain in sync when the song speeds up for a little but is phenomenal.
