Dean & Anderson. Paak and Gorila

Image
Today I have some music from you by an artist and producer out of South Korea. Dean is an alternative R&B singer who really brings a great twist to his sound. What I love about Dean is that his music takes on a sound that is very different from what we normally hear from South Korea. A lot of their music is some kind of pop electronic or rap, however,d with Dean we get something that is more along the lines of R&B and chillhop. His music has a jazzy flavor to it and takes on more of that modern version of the classic style. There is a really nice balance of that "chill" vibe with this song. It isn't too overpowering over the other R&B and jazz elements but doesn't fall so far into the background that this becomes a straight jazz piece. That balance helps give this song a nice lounge sound that is great to jam out to. This is the kind of song I can imagine being played at a fun but laid back bar or club. The song has a really nice vibe to it which makes it ...

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them and Harry Potter

Today I have some music for you from the most wonderfully magical movie of the year. For those of you who grew up with the characters of Harry Potter, today is an absolute treat. This week marked the release of the newest installation in the wonderful world of magic. This new movie takes place in the 1920's of New York City, and features some of the most astonishing and adorable creatures out there. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a magical whirlwind of wizardry, magical creatures, fun loving muggles, and adventurous spirit. This movie features actors whom are severely underrated, but perform beautifully and incredibly well. Eddie Redmayne and Ezra Miller are the two actors that really come to mind when I talk about phenomenal acting. The characters they portray are beautifully complex and hauntingly damaged. The way these two actors are able to blend these different aspects, and bring to life characters that are pivotal to the story, well it is nothing short of brillian...

The Glitch Mob and The Peaky Blinders

Today I have some interesting music for you, in the sense that you may find it a little bit quirky. Today's first song is by the ever incredible band by the name The White Stripes. Now The White Stripes is probably one of the most iconic bands of the late 90's and early 00's. This is a band that everyone seems to know, even if they have never heard a song by them. It is just one of those names that you know, regardless of what kind of music you listen to. What I like about this band is the blending of grunge rock and blues rock to create songs that have some really great bass guitar work in accompaniment with heavy drum work. The White Stripes tends to ditch the dependence on the electric guitar in favor of the lower tones and deep thrum of the bass guitar. This is a song that makes you automatically feel like a badass and a rebel. That is one of the things that The White Stripes can do to  you-make  you feel like the coolest and most suave person in the world. This song ju...

Bad Suns and Trevor Morris

Today I have some music for you by a more  low key  band called Bad Suns. My primary exposure to this band was at The 1975 concert. Bad Suns was the opening act and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having my first listen be a live one was very interesting because I could form a better opinion about the band, and I was very impressed. The lead singer of this band has some seriously strong vocals that carry through and really fill up the space of sound. There is a full richness to that voice which embodies the soul of rock extremely well, and the tone of his voice is one that I have not heard from a rock band in  some time . Part of me is reminded of bands like The Killers and Linkin Park, and Bastille-trademark voices. This song has some nice vocal harmonization to it and a pinch of angst which rounds the vocals out very nicely. There is really nice guitar work in this song as well. The main melody for the guitar is rather simple, but Bad Suns  messes  with the sound tha...

Dominique & Manotett and Cloud Atlas

Today I am taking things back to the chilled out and slower side of music. This song is one that I had on repeat for a while because of how smooth and calming it is. This isn't a very energized and hyped up song. Instead, we get something that is wonderfully chill and perfect for lounging around or just doing your own thing. This song is a synth pop breath of fresh air. In all honesty, we hear the same pop songs from all corners of media, but with this song, we get something that is such a nice fresh and unique sound. I will say, Dominique's original work with the song is really nice and still has that calmer and more relaxed sound. But Manotett took this song and remixed it, making this a song that is genuinely amazing and perfectly ambient. I would even go so far as to call this song beautiful. It is not one of those songs that is beautiful because of how moving it is. Rather, there is something mystical and a bit magical to the beauty surrounding this song. Kind of like a su...

Disciples and Man Of Steel

Image
Today I have some new music for you and hopefully, it will be some good stuff for you guys! This first song is a really smooth and chill remix of a song by OneRepublic. As it is, Ryan Tedder has a phenomenal voice that can pull off so many different sounds and genres. What I love about this is that he unintentionally came up with a song that had the right vibe and sound to it that we were able to get this remix from Disciples. This song has that really chill sound from house music and it almost doesn't even sound like house. It seems to laid back for that! However, I think this remix is really sick. It maintains the elements of OneRepublic song like the vocals, but the melodies in this song have been so perfectly done so that a whole new sound is created. I understand, this is a remix and of course it is a new sound. But Disciples makes this song completely different and the song itself has a totally different melody. How wicked is that?! A lot of times when people do remixes, the ...

VGo and House of Ill Repute

Well, it has been quite a trying week! We've seen a lot happen, and it has been nothing but a wild ride. However, I am so happy to be back with music for you all because quite frankly, sharing music is one of the things that keeps me sane! A part of why this week was extremely crazy for me, is because of dance competition that my university hosted. Now this isn't your typical dance competition. This was a Bollywood Fusion choreography competition. Not many people are extremely familiar with the Bollywood scene, let alone the fusion side, however, the Bollywood dance circuit has grown so large, and because of that we now host nationally acclaimed competitions! It was crazy and stressful and tiring, but absolutely worth it! We got to see teams from all over the country come perform to some the sickest dance mixes out there. The choreography isn't the only thing that is a fusion of styles. These mixes have been meticulously created to give us something that is not only hyped a...
