Dean & Anderson. Paak and Gorila

Today I have some music from you by an artist and producer out of South Korea. Dean is an alternative R&B singer who really brings a great twist to his sound. What I love about Dean is that his music takes on a sound that is very different from what we normally hear from South Korea. A lot of their music is some kind of pop electronic or rap, however,d with Dean we get something that is more along the lines of R&B and chillhop. His music has a jazzy flavor to it and takes on more of that modern version of the classic style. There is a really nice balance of that "chill" vibe with this song. It isn't too overpowering over the other R&B and jazz elements but doesn't fall so far into the background that this becomes a straight jazz piece. That balance helps give this song a nice lounge sound that is great to jam out to. This is the kind of song I can imagine being played at a fun but laid back bar or club. The song has a really nice vibe to it which makes it so irresistible. We really hear the influence of the supporting artist in this song. Anderson. Paak is a newer artist who is currently more in the underground scene of music. I love Anderson. Paak's work because of how fresh and new it sounds. He is able to take jazz, funk, soul, and R&B and blend them into a concoction that is the perfect balance of all the different sounds. We really hear that with this song because of how well balanced the song is. On the surface we hear a more pop-oriented melody line, but supporting that is a jazzier bass line which comes in and gives the song a steady beat and rhythm to follow. The whole song oozes this nice chilled out funk that makes it such a really great listen. I love how Dean looks to a lot of outside influences in his music. Dean has quite a few collaborations with non-Korean artists which I also found to be quite interesting. The collaborations Dean has made are quite impressive, and his unique style is something I appreciate so much. Anderson. Paak is also an incredibly fantastic artist who has a very original sound, and getting to hear these two artists collaborate is an amazing sensation. The whole song is something that is fun to listen to but isn't overly energetic or crazy. It is the right level of being funky and fun, making this a song that is such a thrill. Today's instrumental song takes a different approach to chill hop. With this song, we get sounds that are made by live instruments rather than programmable notes and rhythms. In this song, we get to hear the distinctive influence of the piano, bass, saxophone, etc. There are a few instruments in the song, but the jazz ensemble is what gives this song a completed sound. There is a wholeness, a well-rounded vibe to the song. This song is a bit more mellowed out, but Gorila does a sweet job of giving this song a nice relaxing sound. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
