Yogi, Pusha T, & Skrillex and GTA

Image
Today I have some wicked music for you by a multitude of artists. This song is mainly a collaboration between Yogi, Pusha T, and Skirllex, but the other artists featured in the song make this into something that is sick and absolutely hype. We all know Skrillex has the reputation of being quite a hype artist, a musician who can turn music into something that is more fluid and free form, into something robotic and crisp. This is not a bad thing, whatever people may think. For the genre and style of music that Skrillex produces, that crisp and sharp sound is a perfect compliment to the very electronic sound that he has. Skrillex does not try to dim the level of electronic usage in his music, which I definitely can appreciate. In this song we get to hear a lot more of a combination of styles with Skrillex's instrumental work. For a good portion of the song, Skrillex does not employ the use of his signature electronic scratch. In fact, most of this song is focused on heavy hitting beat...

Jaymes Young & Phoebe Ryan and Cloud Atlas

And I'm back! After an incredible week of running around a new city, it is nice to get back to blogging about music. To start off the "return" I have a song for you that I heard recently and really enjoyed. This song is definitely more along the lines of being chilled out and smooth. This is a nice, slower song, one that is great for just lounging around and just hanging out. Jaymes Young is a highly underrated vocalist in my opinion, and this song is just another showcase of how warm and gentle and soulful his voice his. Phoebe Ryan on the other hand is definitely a more popular vocalist, being featured in a lof the songs that have been on the radio lately. But the two of these singers together is like magic. This is a duo that was meant to sing together. Their voices are so silky smooth together and I love that! Both of these singers have softer voices, the kind that settle on you like feathers or a soft blanket settling around your shoulders. This song is like running ...

Fever Ray and The Hobbit

Today I have some music for you that comes from a television show that I have not been able to get enough of recently. Vikings is a show that really has me wanting to binge watch, and there are very few shows that make me feel that way. This is a historical fiction drama/epic show following one of the most famous icons in Scandinavian history, and let me tell you, this show is absolutely amazing. And of course a show this good has to have an equally great theme song, which it does. What I love about this theme song is that it reflects the show so well. This is a show that is pretty dark and mysterious, and the theme song definitely reflects that. This song is by the artist Fever Ray, and my goodness does this song fit the show so well. The first thing I noticed when listening to this song, is how it has this sound like the rumbling of the ocean. The deep power of the ocean is heard in this song which I absolutely love considering the Vikings were an oceanic group of people. This song i...

Drake and Rihanna

Today I have some music for you by an artist that is definitely not an underground artist, but is one whose music has been in my head for the past day now. I cannot deny the brilliance and greatness of this song, even though I believe that this artist is sometimes overly hyped. Drake is an artist who is known the world over as an artist who is super amazing and incredible and one of the greats. While I will definitely acknowledge that the guy is talented, I wouldn't go so far as to say he is one of the best rappers we have ever heard. That being said, I do enjoy his music and like that he has been able to take different directions with his music in terms of musicality and stylistic elements. This song is an EP that has come out and has become very popular. This song is pretty much everywhere and I have yet to get tired of it. This song is very different from what we have heard from Drake in the past. This song first of all, is him straight singing. No rapping, no wicked or funny rhy...

Trips and Vacation

Hello fellow music junkies! So I will be going out of town for the next week, where I will have pretty limited access to the blog. Sadly enough I won't be able to post every day. However I'm going to do my best to sneak a couple of posts in. Stay tuned, and I'll definitely see you guys in a week!

SoMo and AlunaGeorge

Today I have some music for you by an absolutely incredible artist by the name SoMo. This is an artist that is definitely more in the underground music scene, but is also an artist who's style so perfectly fits that underground vibe. I won't lie, I do wish SoMo was more popular because his music is fantastic, but, the man did start out as a YouTube cover artist, so maybe there is more to his fan base than I have been exposed to. But SoMo is an artist I haven't been able to get enough of lately. This is an artist who has changed what defines "sexy" music. I mean absolutely changes the game! SoMo has created a new sound for sensual and sexy music. His voice isn't incredibly smooth and R&B, he doesn't necessarily have the silky sound or sweet falsetto that often accompanies what we think is "sex" music. But what he does bring to the table is a slightly grittier voice that is smooth but a little bit and pleasantly aggressive. SoMo also goes back ...

Anberlin and The Dark Knight Rises

Today I have music for you today by one of my favorite bands of all time-Anberlin. It has been quite a while since I have posted a song by these guys, but now I feel is the time for me to start talking about them more.12 years later and 7 studio albums later, Anberlin still remains one of the greatest bands I have ever had the pleasure to encounter. Everything about this band is so smooth and perfect. The vocals, the instrumentation, the background, the name, the lyrics, the members. Everything fits together like puzzle pieces and they form the incredible image of a band that never ever stopped making music that the world can fall in love with. Anberlin is a band that means so much to me and will always have a special part in my soul and mind as one of the things that evolved and molded me into what I am today. But on to the music, this song is off their final album. This is the early side of Anberlin, moving back to the hard rock that we got from  albums like Cities.  This so...
