SoMo and AlunaGeorge

Today I have some music for you by an absolutely incredible artist by the name SoMo. This is an artist that is definitely more in the underground music scene, but is also an artist who's style so perfectly fits that underground vibe. I won't lie, I do wish SoMo was more popular because his music is fantastic, but, the man did start out as a YouTube cover artist, so maybe there is more to his fan base than I have been exposed to. But SoMo is an artist I haven't been able to get enough of lately. This is an artist who has changed what defines "sexy" music. I mean absolutely changes the game! SoMo has created a new sound for sensual and sexy music. His voice isn't incredibly smooth and R&B, he doesn't necessarily have the silky sound or sweet falsetto that often accompanies what we think is "sex" music. But what he does bring to the table is a slightly grittier voice that is smooth but a little bit and pleasantly aggressive. SoMo also goes back to the more common roots of R&B, back to the old days when R&B music was all about being in love and making love. He makes that distinction pretty clear in his music, what sex is and what making love is. And that is weirdly refreshing, especially since R&B music is kind of all over the place now. And of course, he sticks to the really nice slow jam style of music. This is absolutely perfect for his voice as well as his production style for a couple of reasons. SoMo is very lyrically oriented, having quite a few more words in the verses than other singers many use. He also has really great control of his voice, and the slow jam style of music allows him to really show off how sexy his voice really can be. He is able to do a lot with his voice, and really likes having weird syncopation in the way he sings, as well as switching between pitches. But SoMo does this so well and honestly just makes the song even that much smoother. As a producer, SoMo does an incredible job of creating music that is sensual, sexy, simple, and smooth. When you pay attention and listen just to the instrumentals, they are actually pretty straightforward and simple. But that makes the song that much more intimate and real, giving the song a sort of raw naturalness that makes it really nice to listen to. SoMo is just such a breath of fresh air, especially when it comes to R&B music. We have been stuck in a rut of R&B style for a while, and SoMo gives us a new and suave sound that has reinvigorated how sexy R&B can be. Today's instrumental song is by AlunaGeorge. Now this may seem like a totally unrelated artist, but I would disagree. Both of these artists really take pride and care of their production, and opt for the more chill kind of sound rather than something that is hype and crazy. This song is probably one of AlunaGeorge's more popular songs, but it is a very good one. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
