Jaymes Young & Phoebe Ryan and Cloud Atlas
And I'm back! After an incredible week of running around a new city, it is nice to get back to blogging about music. To start off the "return" I have a song for you that I heard recently and really enjoyed. This song is definitely more along the lines of being chilled out and smooth. This is a nice, slower song, one that is great for just lounging around and just hanging out. Jaymes Young is a highly underrated vocalist in my opinion, and this song is just another showcase of how warm and gentle and soulful his voice his. Phoebe Ryan on the other hand is definitely a more popular vocalist, being featured in a lof the songs that have been on the radio lately. But the two of these singers together is like magic. This is a duo that was meant to sing together. Their voices are so silky smooth together and I love that! Both of these singers have softer voices, the kind that settle on you like feathers or a soft blanket settling around your shoulders. This song is like running water, something that is calming and refreshing. This song is a wonderful exploration of two sides of a relationship, and I love how the back and forth is like those two sides. This is a song that makes you want to close your eyes and just listen to the music, and I love that. Jaymes Young and Phoebe Ryan have turned this song into a romantically ambient masterpiece, one that explores the desires and tears that accompany being in a relationship. Jaymes Young has a voice that purrs, one that is so comforting and soulful, but vulnerable and almost a little quiet. In comparison to a lot of other male singers who have prouder and louder vocals, Jaymes Young keeps it closer and smaller, something that makes this song even a little intimate. His singing style alone is enough to make this song a song that is atmospheric and almost ethereal. This song is a woven tapestry of the woes and tragedies of being in a relationship, but it is such a beautiful tragedy. And to be quite frank, those are the most wonderful and appreciated stories to hear. The swirling synth melody in the background is something that is like the current of a creek, not babbling away but flowing with viscosity. The clicking rhythm is something that is not overdone or harsh, but gives the song more of a humanesque feeling. The piano of course is a lovely touch, something that brings a familiar instrument to our ears and give the song more body. Jaymes Young and Phoebe Ryan have released a very unique piece, one that is artistically sound and pretty much a shimmering melody to accompany the idea of a heartbreak. The two of them together sound splendid, a vocal match made in heaven, and I really hope to hear more work by the two of these artists together. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Cloud Atlas. This is one of those movies that I am strangely in love with because of its complexities. This is a movie that many people found themselves lost in when watching, but I found myself lost for a very different reason. I was lost to the beauty and splendor and depth of this movie. I was lost to the fantasy and the story and the message of the movie. This is one that is a great watch, I highly encourage you guys to give it a go. And the score is possibly one of the greatest hidden gems as far as movie scores go. I mean this is a score that is rich in emotion and feeling, wealthy in melodies and harmonies, a score that is hard to describe in words alone. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
