Yogi, Pusha T, & Skrillex and GTA

Today I have some wicked music for you by a multitude of artists. This song is mainly a collaboration between Yogi, Pusha T, and Skirllex, but the other artists featured in the song make this into something that is sick and absolutely hype. We all know Skrillex has the reputation of being quite a hype artist, a musician who can turn music into something that is more fluid and free form, into something robotic and crisp. This is not a bad thing, whatever people may think. For the genre and style of music that Skrillex produces, that crisp and sharp sound is a perfect compliment to the very electronic sound that he has. Skrillex does not try to dim the level of electronic usage in his music, which I definitely can appreciate. In this song we get to hear a lot more of a combination of styles with Skrillex's instrumental work. For a good portion of the song, Skrillex does not employ the use of his signature electronic scratch. In fact, most of this song is focused on heavy hitting beats and an intimidating and repetitive bass line. This is a hip hop/EDM anthem, meaning the song uses the best of both genres and styles of music. Now one thing I must point out, is that this song is actually the remixed version of the song. The original does not feature Skrillex at all, but I have to say, even the original has this incredible hype and bad ass sound with the raw hip hop. Now for those of you who don't know, Yogi is an electronic outfit out of London, and this song was actually an unexpected hit. None of us expected it to take off the way it did, and man I am so glad for that. Yogi started this song out, making it an infectious but menacing track with a hip hop driven beat and trap heavy elements and a bass feel. Skrillex came around and added his signature sound, while also amplifying a little bit of what was already there by Yogi. Put it together and you get the dirty beat and sound that we hear for this song. Now Pusha T was a fantastic vocalist for this song because his rhymes are performed in a way that is calmly intimidating. He doesn't add grit or roughness to his voice when rapping, but does it with this seriousness that just kind of makes the song even more intense and hype. Pusha T doesn't overdo it and try to make this a more aggressive track, and because of this, he is able to add this sense of mystery and intensity and overall bad assery. These three working together to make this song what it is, was an incredible decision. I mean this song is the perfect anthem for all of those high energy moments, no matter what the situation is. And I love how raw some of this song is, especially in regards to Pusha T. Seriously, this track is one of the most exciting and wicked things I have heard all year. Today's instrumental song is by GTA. This song randomly got popular for a bit before diving back into the underground, but I felt like it was a great compliment for the first song. This is another one of those trap heavy songs, but not too much so that it becomes absolutely nightmarish. GTA is one of those producers who consistently gives us good music, and this song is no different. The drops and chorus are definitely trapped out but what is nice is that the drops are not overtaken by bass. That is a caution that I definitely look out for, the heaviness of the bass during the drop. But with this song, we can actually hear what the melody sounds like during the chorus. Overall, this is a pretty dope song, one that sounds even cooler with the vocals, mainly because of the lyrics. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
