Basic Vacation and Walk The Moon

Image
Today's song is by a small band out of the US called Basic Vacation. This song has such a great anthem feel to it with its chant like but also sing along chorus. This is very much like a song one would hear as a summer anthem or just a fun and uplifting song. This song has very bright melodies and soft harmonies that make this song very energetic and almost a bit shoe-gaze. This is a band I would recommend checking out even further. Today's instrumental song is the instrumental version of a song by Walk The Moon. I think both bands have very similar sounds and I though they complimented each other pretty well! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Coldplay and Halo 3

Today I have music for you by one of the greatest bands of all time. Coldplay is a group that has consistently given us music that we can find ourselves humming at random times, music that we never get tired of, music that we always go back and listen to. Coldplay has given us music that touches the soul and tugs at our hearts and classics that will always be on our musical playlists. Coldplay has given us magic. Each album this band has come out with has a theme and a story to tell. Each album is different from the one before, exploring different stylistic elements through each album. This song is from their latest album Ghost Stories. Out of every album Coldplay has released, this is my favorite. While it is definitely difficult to pick between the rest for a close second, Ghost Stories takes the crown for being the greatest album created by Coldplay. This is the album that lets us really see what is in their hearts. This is the album where Chris Martin bares himself to the world and...

Oscar Issac & Marcus Mumford and Bob Dylan

Today I have music for you from the movie Inside Llewyn Davis. I am not going to lie, this movie has one of the greatest blues, acoustic, and guitar albums I have ever heard. This song in particular features the voices of the main actor, Oscar Issac and the incredibly talented, Marcus Mumford. This song is performed at the very beginning and end of the film, which makes gives this movie a complete circular plot. Its nice to show how the origins are so similar to the ending. This song has extremely beautiful acoustic work, and it has a very distinct sound to it. Mumford and Issac's voices blend so well together, one providing a folksy sound and the other providing a soulful blusey voice. Oscar Issac is a Juliard graduate, which makes it quite interesting as to how he got into folk music. Generally speaking, Juliard is a school for classical music, but Oscar Issac delivers a beautiful folk rendition of his song. Oscar Issac has a beautiful voice that is gentle and warm. He has the ki...

Didrick & One Direction and Zedd

Today I do have another remix for you. I am sorry, but it just has to happen. This is a very weird and interesting remix because it is a remix of a very contemporary pop song. One Direction's past two albums have been a great divergence from their normal boy band pop days, and has been a wonderful step into the world of more contemporary and adult sounding music. So when you take a song like that, the kind of song that makes all age groups swoon, and then turn it into something that could be a dance anthem, well you can't go wrong! I absolutely love this remix! A lot of times, One Direction gets a lot of crap from people who claim to be extreme music lovers and what not, but I totally disagree with them. One Direction is a boy band, yes. They made a lot of very boy band-sh and pop music. However, they have changed the kind of music they make and there is a clear and distinct maturity to their music while still being able tby o maintain that typical boy band appeal. And this is ...

Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless

Well, after three days of solid remixes, I thought it was high time to go back to originals. So, I am going with a complete 180 degree turn in terms of genre. These past few days have been all about the electronic music world, but now, we enter the world of rock music. And not just any kind of rock music. Hard rock. That's right, we are getting to the gritty and rough and gravelly and all around bad ass side of things. This song is by an incredibly amazing band by the name Halestorm. I am going to be totally upfront, the most bad ass part of this band is the fact that it has a female lead singer. Not just any lead singer, a woman who has an absolutely phenomenal scream. It is very hard to hear bands that have good screamers, and even more rare to have a female deliver that great scream. But Halestorm is one of those bands that just slays it every time. Lzzy Hale is the first female vocalist I had heard from our generation that could really bring out that grit and roughness and just...

Oliver Nelson and Mark Ronson

Today I have yet another remix for you! I guess this is just going to be remix week. Which honestly is not such a bad thing because I love it when artists get really creative and put their own twist on songs that we already love. This remix has been done by Oliver Nelson and is an improved version of one of Justin Timberlake's singles. This was the first single dropped from the 20/20 Experience album, which means of course we fell in love with it. But the thing is, I never realized how much I wish there was more of an energetic groove to the song until I heard this remix by Oliver Nelson. He really brings us that suave groove that Justin Timberlake easily exudes. This remix is the only one I have heard that actually suits what the song is supposed to really make you feel. Justin Timberlake is the kind of guy who has charisma and class, someone who is effortlessly smooth. This remix captures that class and groove that we all think about when it comes to Justin Timberlake. It has tha...

DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge and Jack U

Today I have some really cool music for you by DJ Snake and Aluna George. Recently, DJ Snake has really gained in popularity, being the artist responsible for one of the biggest hits of the year on and off the dance floor. This song is a very intriguing step for DJ Snake because it is not like his other high energy and intense songs. This is something that has more subtle undertones and a more low flying sound. DJ Snake ditches his normal pumped up trap sound for a more chill and lounge sound. This version is actually quite different from the original because it offers more depth and substance to the song. Which is not a bad thing for us! I think this twist in sound and style is something the song needed to keep it something we could listen to for a while. DJ Snake created a song that is not lively, yet still vivacious. This song has the ability to make us get into that chill trap kind of vibe, something that seems like a complete contradiction yet somehow works. What I really like abo...
