Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless
Well, after three days of solid remixes, I thought it was high time to go back to originals. So, I am going with a complete 180 degree turn in terms of genre. These past few days have been all about the electronic music world, but now, we enter the world of rock music. And not just any kind of rock music. Hard rock. That's right, we are getting to the gritty and rough and gravelly and all around bad ass side of things. This song is by an incredibly amazing band by the name Halestorm. I am going to be totally upfront, the most bad ass part of this band is the fact that it has a female lead singer. Not just any lead singer, a woman who has an absolutely phenomenal scream. It is very hard to hear bands that have good screamers, and even more rare to have a female deliver that great scream. But Halestorm is one of those bands that just slays it every time. Lzzy Hale is the first female vocalist I had heard from our generation that could really bring out that grit and roughness and just completely wild scream. Those moments when she just lets it go are my favorite because they are so wickedly strong. It makes it even better that she is capable of doing that live. A lot of singers cannot scream live and continue singing normally after that. But Lzzy Hale is just so damn incredible so she can! Lzzy Hale has such a strong and powerful voice that is capable of so much. Sometimes I wish I could scream the way she does. There is just this raw power and gravel to her voice which suits Halestorm's style of music very well, and just makes them an even more impressive band. This song is just below that level of thrashing which means we get that heavier rock sound and that more intense feeling without the fully blown out heavy metal and crazy guitars. We get a very discernible melody and harmonies and we can clearly understand what she is singing. Also, the fact that she is singing and not just grunting her way through the song makes it a hard rock song rather than a rager. Halestorm is the kind of band that really knows how to make use of the rock aspect and acoustic parts of their music to tell a story. I feel like the story told in this story is quite clear, but it is again just a chapter in the full album, the entire story. I hope you go check it out! Today's instrumental song is by a band that is lead by yet another bad ass female singer. Yes, Taylor Momsen is the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless and yes, she can scream. And it is fantastic! This song is the first one I ever heard by them and I am not going to lie, when I hear this song, I feel like I walk in and own the place. This is one of those songs that amplifies your confidence tenfold and you really feel the need to walk tall and kind of just have this intimidating look on your face. This is the kind of song that makes you feel like an absolute boss. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
