Coldplay and Halo 3

Today I have music for you by one of the greatest bands of all time. Coldplay is a group that has consistently given us music that we can find ourselves humming at random times, music that we never get tired of, music that we always go back and listen to. Coldplay has given us music that touches the soul and tugs at our hearts and classics that will always be on our musical playlists. Coldplay has given us magic. Each album this band has come out with has a theme and a story to tell. Each album is different from the one before, exploring different stylistic elements through each album. This song is from their latest album Ghost Stories. Out of every album Coldplay has released, this is my favorite. While it is definitely difficult to pick between the rest for a close second, Ghost Stories takes the crown for being the greatest album created by Coldplay. This is the album that lets us really see what is in their hearts. This is the album where Chris Martin bares himself to the world and wears his emotions and thoughts on his sleeves. This album is the most vulnerable I have ever heard Coldplay, and I think it is beautiful. Each song in this album is a reflection of an emotion, a feeling that plagues Chris Martin's heart. For him, this is the album that allowed him to let go of everything and show the world that it is okay to not be okay. What this album does is tell the story of grief and loss. It depicts the path one takes when trying to recover from losing a loved one. There are moments when you feel low and alone, when you feel small and cold. And then there are moments when you remember the wonderful times you had, times when you were truly happy. This album shows that range of emotion you feel and how at the end of the road, there is a sliver of light that you can latch onto. There will always be a beacon of hope. This song is the last song off the album and is actually the "hidden" song off the album. And it is actually Chris Martin's favorite song to date. I can understand why though. This song is one that is definitely ambient, but is still full of so much power. In the background you can hear Chris Martin singing the words "don't let go" as somewhat of a support for the song. Another interesting thing about this song is that it is split up into two songs in a way. The first part is a more lyrical and soothing kind of sound, while the second half becomes a beautiful and almost haunting piece that is full of these soft pulses that feels almost like a heartbeat. This song is one that has so much calm energy to it and it is a song that leaves you feeling like a part of something bigger. This is the song that makes you want to stop and just be. Be in the moment and enjoy the world around you. I am in love with this song because it the way it makes me feel, the chills it gives from head to toe. This album is an incredible one and I hope you go listen to it if you haven't already. Today's instrumental song is from the game Halo. A lot of people tend to think video game music is all electronic work and crazy hyper, but this soundtrack is anything but that. The Halo soundtrack is a phenomenal orchestral suite, one that is full of many different motifs and phrases. I really love this soundtrack because if defies everything that is supposed to come with a video game soundtrack. These songs have the ability to be so moving and majestic. I am so impressed and pleased and simply in awe of how incredible this piece is. There is a slightly patriotic tone to the song, but that makes it even more impactful as a song that is supposed to remember the fallen. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
