Keeping It Fresh

Today I have a really sexy remix of a song by Justin Timberlake. This is a man who is so popular and is wildly talented. This song is definitely one of his older songs, but it still kind of remains a classic. This remix by Crlf who is a Danish DJ. This remix is definitely a really sexy and smooth and suave remix. Crlf did a great job of making sure this song has a chill and rounded sound to go along with Justin Timberlake's phenomenal vocals. The thing about Justin Timberlake is that he exudes that sex confidence and it has become part of his persona. Therefore, it is only fitting that remix reflects how we all see Justin Timberlake. Crlf does some really cool stuff to make sure that the remix keeps true. The beginning is really simple with echoing note drops that sound like they are reverberating. This establishes a nice chill and relaxing atmosphere. Then Justin Timberlake's vocals are added in. His vocals are slowed down a bit thought so that the words are longer and more su...

Today I have music for you that is a really cool mix of Indian and American music. This song has a pretty sick combination of sounds because it has a really R& beat to it and it isn't a beat that over does that beat. For a lot of people, this song will seem very different, especially because this song talks a lot about hardships that people of color face. But I think The Stranger Family carries this message in a really great way because not only is the song catchy, but the lyrics can be related to. I am also a huge fan of the way the song was performed. The song opens up with Hindi/Panjabi which I think is pretty cool. It kind of establishes the premise of the song and catches you more off guard when the English starts. The one thing about this song is that The Stranger Family really knows how to rap the Panjabi words. You don't normally hear rap music from India or in an Indian language because we are all about the Bollywood life. Not only is this completely different in c...

Today I have music for you by a band called The Pretty Reckless. I am not going to lie, the first thing that really caught my attention was the vocals in the song. It is really hard to find female vocalists who can really pull off that hard rock sound. Most female voices don't have the scratchy, edgy, and gritty voice that Taylor Momsen has. I love her voice for that! It sounds like a very mature rock voice despite the fact that she is pretty young. Her voice is very reminiscent of Joan Jett, a woman who has a kick ass voice and is one of the queens of hard rock.  She also kind of reminds me of the vocalist from Dead Sara. The thing about these vocals is that it fits so damn well with a song like this. And what is even more impressive is that she actually sounds like this live. I know a lot of rock bands with vocals like this don't actually sound that great live, but Taylor Momsen really knows how to use her voice and she sounds exactly the same. This is both awesome and reliev...

Today I have some music for you by a punk band that is slowly starting to gain traction, but I have a feeling that they may hit the ground running! Death From Above 1979 is a really cool band because it has a history that is unlike most bands today. They broke up for a period of time after being together for five years. Normally when bands break up though, they don't get back together. However, Death From Above 1979 id reform and has released a new album. Today's song is from that new album and it is a pretty sick song! Fun fact, this song was based on a train wreck that did happen before the age of cellphones and other devices like it. What made this the choice wreck was that no one died. Anyway, when it comes to the song, there are a couple of cool things that mesh together which usually wouldn't. For one, this song has a crazy metal undertone with very heavy guitar work going on. We get a lot from both the electric and bass guitars. The bass guitar is harder to hear unde...

Today I have a really hot song by Cash Cash. I am not going to lie, I hadn't heard of these guys till they had their big radio hit, but ever since then I have been an active listener of Cash Cash. This song is an awesome example as to why. Cash Cash knows how to incorporate different aspects of electronic music while maintaining a good sound. A lot of electronic artists like the video game noises and bleeps and blips that come with some songs. Cash Cash uses all of these things while also sticking to the conventional music programming. This is one of those rare songs that features video game music that I don't find annoying. Cash Cash balances all the different styles and splices them to fit in certain points in the song. This song also features other instruments as well like a tambourine and actual drums. I like that a lot because it shows versatility in the way that Cash Cash produces music. Cash Cash also uses things like old school synths and keyboards which is really nice ...

Today I have a new song for you by Calvin Harris. One of the things I love about him is that he really knows how to pick great vocalists. Now electronic songs in general have amazing vocalists. That is another thing to commend electronic music for having other than having lots of energy. This song features the vocals of John Newman. I love his voice so much because it has a slight accent to it, but still maintains an incredible amount of soul. Calvin Harris is a phenomenal artist in his own respect, just as John Newman is. So when they come together to make a song, you can only expect the best. What Calvin Harris does in this song is really nice because he doesn't fill the song up with random electronic noises and beats. This song is very systematically done to create a certain kind of energy and certain amount of energy. John Newman lends his soulful voice to help create that atmosphere as well. This is a truly well done collaboration because each artist is playing to the other...

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time....
