Calvin Harris and Sebastian Ingrosso

Today I have a new song for you by Calvin Harris. One of the things I love about him is that he really knows how to pick great vocalists. Now electronic songs in general have amazing vocalists. That is another thing to commend electronic music for having other than having lots of energy. This song features the vocals of John Newman. I love his voice so much because it has a slight accent to it, but still maintains an incredible amount of soul. Calvin Harris is a phenomenal artist in his own respect, just as John Newman is. So when they come together to make a song, you can only expect the best. What Calvin Harris does in this song is really nice because he doesn't fill the song up with random electronic noises and beats. This song is very systematically done to create a certain kind of energy and certain amount of energy. John Newman lends his soulful voice to help create that atmosphere as well. This is a truly well done collaboration because each artist is playing to the other's strengths. Calvin Harris makes a song around John Newman's voice and John Newman sings the song in a way that accomodates Calvin Harris' style of music. This works out really well because then we get a song that is vibrating with energy and sick chorus melody. There is enough in this song to make a dance song that gets you excited, but not too much to where you get tired of it easily and get annoyed. The both of them together really pieced together a great song and I have not been able to get it out of my head! But that is such a good thing I think. Today's instrumental song is by Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso. There are actually two versions of this song. The one I have for you does not feature the vocals of Ryan Tedder. The intro is slightly longer, but this is a really good and catchy song. This is one of those older but awesome to the core kind of electronic songs. This is just another style of house compared to the first song, but both of them have a really good balance between the languid and the overly energetic levels. Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zack Knight and Keys 'n Krates

Today I have a little bit of a shorter post, but I can promise you that it's a good one. Today I wanted to focus on ethnic music, particularly, Indian music. And I have music for you by an artist out of England by the name Zack Knight. Now this is a guy who has a really great thing going on in terms of musicality. In fact, this is something I have seen a lot more of, a nice resurgence of a style of music that definitely went underground for a few years before resurfacing. This hip-hop oriented music is a great style because it is a smooth fusion of Indian and Western music. I mean it is a straight flow between the two, switching between them and making sure the song gets some Hindi in there as well as English. Now this song, in particular, is definitely geared more towards English, with only a few verses done in Hindi and Punjabi, but I seriously haven't been able to get the song out of my head. I mean it has everything- a sick beat, a catchy chorus, and a really good vibe.

Röyksopp & Robyn and Transformers Age of Extinction

Today I have the newest song by Robyn a nd  Röyksopp   for you. Robyn has a really cool style to her persona and music. This song in particular goes back to the older style of electr onic music with vocals. It even has a slight disco feel to it, which is something that Robyn can do so well. They went back to the beginning and worked from scratch to make this. From the beginnings of electronic music, this is what they have pulled from that age and combined with the new era of electronic music. I think this style of music suits Robyn so well and she is able to pull it off so well, especially with the type of vocals she has. This song has an upbeat and dance feel to it, but the lyrics scream sadness, loneliness, and desperation of many kinds and that creates an innate pull to the song. I got so hooked on the background music of this song. During the chorus there is a change from major to minor and that really pulls out the darker feelings.
