Keeping It Fresh

Today I have music for you by the great singer Mat Kearney. I have posted some songs by him in the past, and if this is your first time hearing his voice, my you are in for a wonderful listen. Mat Kearney has voice that can melt your heart and make you feel so good. His voice is one that is soothing and energizing and settling all at the same time. The only other voice I can compare him to is Chris Martin. I have yet to hear a song by him that I don't like. His music is so special because he writes every word and composes every song. His style of music is also very unique. It is very much like the solo male vocalists you hear, but it is also very different. Mat Kearney loves to use percussion in his songs. Almost every song has a really cool percussion beat and just cool percussion in general! This song is very drum beat heavy and it also uses the piano beautifully. Today was quite the exciting one because I went to the Linkin Park Carnivores Tour concert! Let me tell you, there is nothing that comes even slightly close to the epicness that is Linkin Park. And they sound even more bad ass live. This is a band who is really in it for the music and loves what they do. You can tell by the way they perform and by the way Chester Bennington belts out those verses with screams unlike anything I have ever heard. Chester Bennington has a scream like no other and it sounds so strong and powerful and wild live. If you think it sounds good in a recorded song, wait till you hear it live because then you really get to experience how wonderfully powerful his voice is. His transitions between singing and screaming are absolutely flawless as well. He transitions between them so well that we never hear the other style cross into the other. Today's song is by the house artist know as Chuckie. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy this song. Its a chill but energetic song. Plus the beats are phenomenal and the background synth work is pretty sick. I absolutely love the climax of the song because it isn't too heavy. Sick beats, great melodies, whats not to like?  Today's instrumental song is by Phutureprimitive. I recently discovered him, and I have to say that his style is incredibly unique.This song is more trance and downtempo, but all of his stuff is awesome! Today I have a weirdly intriguing song by the artist known as Chloe Howl. Her voice is really cool because it has this R&B feel to it but she pairs it with electronic music. This is what a really cool progressive house could sound like. But this song is not actually part of the realm of straight electronic music. There are elements of electronic music, no doubt, but this song is not necessarily classified that way. Chloe Howl is from Britain and you can hear her accent throughout the song. I actually really like the accent. I think it adds character to the song because you already start to imagine a night in London during the summer with music and lights blazing. The accent really helps set up the scenery and in turn that adds so much flavor to the song. This song falls into the category of a certain style of songs that are starting to become very popular. Today I have music for you by a singer who goes by Vance Joy. This song is really cute and has a great upbeat sound to it. This is really nice because indie music like this is starting to come to the forefront, but Vance Joy really stays true to his style. Another artist he could be compared to is Of Monsters and Men. However, Vance Joy has a different involvement in indie folk. This song has a great combination of genres in it. The ukulele brings this really nice folksy sound while also providing a slightly tropical and reggae sound. When the bongo drums enter, that is when we really get to hear that fusion of genres. This song uses a couple of different types of percussion in it. The conventional drum set provides the beat and the bongos have a harmonizing percussion line. You can also hear the beats provided by other drums like the snare drum. The way all of these beat providers stay together impeccably well and remain in sync when the song speeds up for a little but is phenomenal. ...

Today I have some foreign music for you, straight from the world of Bollywood. This song is really cool because it features sounds from bhangra and Western styles. This song is just so much to dance to and listen to. As someone who is an avid dancer, this song will be hard to sit still to. This definitely uses fast paced bhangra beats as the basis of the song. Honestly without those beats the song would not have much life to it. But of course the Western influences are very prominent. From the beginning, all you really hear is the electronic work going in but then when it gives way to the awesome bhangra, the song gets so wicked. This song is just so much damn fun! The beat is at the right speed to where you can dance in beats of 2 or dance immediately on the beat. Once the song really gets into swing, the electronic work doesn't even sound bad! I am so sorry about not posting last night! But I am back today with a song that will either break your heart or fill you with warmth. For me, every time I hear this song, I always imagine myself slow dancing with the man of my dreams. Ariana Grande is a girl who can sing. When you take her out of context of the pop songs that come out in which her voice is not being true to her capabilities, her voice is absolutely incredible. This song is so enchantingly beautiful because of the harmonizing and combination of Ariana Grande's voice and Nathan Sykes' voice. What I love about this song is that it has an extremely romantic feel to it, but it is romantic in the classiest way ever. Lately, songs like this are harder to find from artists other than Michael Buble and such, but this song blew me away. The first time I heard this song I had to stop what I was doing to listen to it.
