Chloe Howl and Robyn
Today I have a weirdly intriguing song by the artist known as Chloe Howl. Her voice is really cool because it has this R&B feel to it but she pairs it with electronic music. This is what a really cool progressive house could sound like. But this song is not actually part of the realm of straight electronic music. There are elements of electronic music, no doubt, but this song is not necessarily classified that way. Chloe Howl is from Britain and you can hear her accent throughout the song. I actually really like the accent. I think it adds character to the song because you already start to imagine a night in London during the summer with music and lights blazing. The accent really helps set up the scenery and in turn that adds so much flavor to the song. This song falls into the category of a certain style of songs that are starting to become very popular. This style of music is quite popular in Europe which is awesome because it has been able to open doorways for this music in America. Is it a shame that most artists in America do not have songs like this? Yes. But, songs like this always sound better coming from Europe anyway, plus, there is this suave nature that only comes from European artists. This song definitely has a really cool vibe to it. It is energizing and charming and appealing. The vocals that Chloe Howl provides in this song are very unique in the sense that they have a very distinct sound to them. Chloe Howl kind has a voice that sounds similar to the vocals used in Diplo's Revolution. There is this cool calm to her voice and it just has that appeal. It is one of those voices that once you hear it, you will understand what I mean. But the beats in this song are also pretty fantastic. This ins't a super pumped up song that is bursting with energy. Rather, it is organized energy that doesn't skyrocket nor is it languid. It is at that right speed to where you can chill to it, dance to it, and simply enjoy the music. This song is also heavily based in electronics. A multitude of synths and programming are evident in this song. But Chloe Howl keeps the melodies and harmonies reigned in so that things don't get overbearing. The melody of course is more prevalent than the harmony, but you can still hear both well. All in all, this is a really fun song! It is one that I hope sweeps across America soon, but hopefully it won't get overplayed! Today's instrumental song is by Robyn because the two artists share quite a bit in common. The type of music they create is very similar but both of them are still very distinct. Robyn, in this case, has a much brighter sound. Though the song is still on a controlled level of energy, the chords are much brighter and evoke brighter colors. However, both artists utilize the electronics in order to bridge the gap between pop music and singing and electronica. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
