Us The Duo and Phoenix

Today I have a fun and bubbly song for you by the couple known as Us The Duo. I have to say, this song was actually pretty cute! This is definitely a romantic song, but it is put to such a lively pop beat, giving the song a more dance vibe than anything else. This song definitely has a little bit of a pop rock vibe as well, something that I could imagine hearing from a band like Neon Trees or Phoenix. I haven't heard much new music like this in a while, and I really love listening to this style of music again. There is a really nice warmth that comes with a song like this, something that you can't get from just a rock song or just a pop song. It is the elements of pop synths and rock beats that bring this song together very well. Another thing I really like about this song is the fact that it is not overly ambitious in trying to create a boisterous kind of sound.  Us The Duo does a very good job of making this a song that is vivacious and pleasant and the way the vocals are shared is also a great balance between being adorably romantic and bubbly. The male vocals take over much of the song, but the female vocals provide all of the harmonies. Now a lot of times the harmonies are kind of a background addition to a song, not meant to be extremely important but to add a little bit of a flair to the song. With Us The Duo, the vocal matches almost require that the female and male vocals support each other. The male vocalist is strong and solid, but the variety in his voice comes from the fact that the female vocals weave through the male vocals. A little confusing, I know. But the balance between voices is what makes this song a lyrically dynamic song. The harmonies are well crafted so that it sounds more like the two singers are responding to one another. I like the call and respond kind of harmony because it really allows the harmony and melody to shine in their own respective ways. This song is just an all around feel good song. The musicality is very much along the lines of something that is supposed to make you feel happy inside, which I will never say no to. This is a synth heavy song, but you do get to hear some of the traditional band instruments as well, like the tambourine and guitar. Us The Duo is not a very well known group, but I think their style of music is one that really caters to a lot of tastes. I am a fan of this song and cannot wait to start hearing it played in coffee shops everywhere! Today's instrumental song is by one of the bands mentioned earlier. Phoenix is a French band who really took pop rock and made it their own. Phoenix has a lot of really fun and exciting songs because of the style of rock music they choose to make. Their sound has a lot of influence from the French music scene, which can be heard int he way Phoenix uses their synths and keyboards.
