Diplo & Nicky Da B and Gent & Jawns
Today I have some music for you by Diplo and features the wonderful rapping of Nicky Da B. I found about this song through its use in 22 Jump Street. This song has that really awesome Diplo sound, the one that is his signature feel. The thing about Diplo is that yes he is an electronic musician, but his style is completely different from the majority of well known DJ's in the industry. He has this really dirty spin to his music and it is wicked cool. I won't lie, Diplo is one of those artists that I can listen to when I'm doing something that requires energy, but his music is sometimes too much to listen to all the time. But this song has this really nice beat to it that never drops in energy nor speed. The rapper in this song raps with that same level of energy even though half of what he says is unintelligible. Maybe that is what makes him sound really good in this song. There is a level of energy to which he could be saying nonsense and it would still sound sick. Don't get me wrong, I am not denying his talent as a rapper, I am just saying that it is slightly amusing. In this song, Diplo does that thing where the beginning of the song seems slower than the rest of the song and then everything "speeds" up. The way he does it is just change the drum beat from normal time to half time. Regardless, it sounds really cool when he does that and he is one of the only DJ's who does do it. This song also has that bubble popping noise thrown in throughout the whole song which I always find extremely amusing, especially in a song like this. With the way the song sounds, one would think the popping sound is out of place but it fits in so well. Diplo also uses his programming to get a sound that is similar to that of an electric guitar and I like the way he adds that in. It gives the song more grit. This song has plenty of attitude, no doubt about it. But that guitar-like sound adds this grunge and dirt to the song. This song is completely full of energy and fun and dance energy. Today's instrumental song is by Gent & Jawns. This song is really sick! It has been a really long time since I have posted some trap music and boy is this song the definition of trap. The drops in this song are on point and there is this intense energy to it that never dips. This song is consistently pounding with energy and and the percussion beats are awesome. There is some seriously phenomenal work going on in this song, especially at the drop points. The build up has that normal formula to it and then the drop hits. There is something so simple in the way the drop sounds but it is something totally bad ass. This song makes you feel like a complete boss and is one that you can either chill to or go crazy to. I am a huge fan of this song and I can't get over how completely wicked it sounds! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
