MØ and The Great Gatsby

Today I have music for you by a singer known as MØ. Her style is really cool and very different from anything I have ever. This song definitely utilizes the synths and keyboards and basic electronic devices to make the song sound really chill. But then the song hits you with this amazingly sick trumpet work and solos and it kind of blows you away. Her music is what gutsy electronic music would sound like. It has something really chill and suave, with the slower beats to make for large waves of sound, but it also has that pumped up energy of the brass instruments. MØ is a pop singer, but is unlike any pop singer you have heard because she doesn't sing solely about sex, drugs, and so called love. She sings with a fierceness of both sound and style and she revels in that edgy sound. When most people think of edgy pop, they think of artists like P!nk. But MØ takes edgy to a different level of understanding. She is not afraid to incorporate different sounds and styles into her music to make it stand out from all the rest. Every one of her songs has a different theme that it follows, this one being kind of like psychedelic indie pop. But MØ is very experimental with her music and does a great job of making to explore every genre. Her albums look at things from modern day electronic music, to the punk movements of the late 80's and 90's, to the doo wops of the 50's swing and rock n roll. MØ's dabbling of different sounds creates something totally unique and completely exciting. There is always at least one song that people can really relate to whether it be because of lyrics or sound. For me, this song takes me to getting ready for and going to a club while it rains heavily outside. It is one of those songs that has shades of dark blues and greens and purples swirling around, but a layer of mystery and ambiance  envelops itself within the song. I really like the beginning because of how the chorus sounds almost tribal. It sets up the song in a weirdly awesome way because I feel like it has nothing to do with the tone of the song, yet it works. I also really like this one keyboard riff that goes through the song and sounds like the stereotypical Middle Eastern sound. And then of course, we get the awesome trumpet and brass work which completes the song so well. MØ is a little known artist, but is one that I highly recommend you all look into deeply because she has so much talent and some wicked music. Today's instrumental song is from the movie The Great Gatsby. I realize that I post a lot of music from this movie, but the score is just too incredible to pass up on! This song was composed for the movie, but was also done by Will. I. Am. Now the reason I chose this song was because it incorporates that swing sound and jazzy trumpet along with today's hot beats and awesome energy. The two meshed really really well in this song and I always enjoy listening to it. Swing adaptations are always amazing and both of these songs do a great job with it. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
