Dr. Srimix and Offer Nissim

Image
Today I have some remixed and mashed up music for you! So this song is pieced together by a DJ who goes by the name Dr. Srimix. Now I have to tell you, out of everything that has happened since becoming a dancer on the Bollywood fusion circuit, discovering Dr. Srimix and the cohort of Bollywood fusion DJs is the greatest part. Dr. Srimix has a knack for finding Western and Bollywood songs that fit so well together. Somehow, he makes the songs become puzzle pieces, and manipulates them into fitting exactly the way they need to. Of course, this is nothing short of admiration and a testament to the incredible skill that he has as a DJ. The Indian dance community in the US is quite large, and Dr. Srimix is one of the most well known and popular DJ among the dance network. And for absolutely great reason. He has created mixes with songs that I never even thought to listen to on a regular basis, let alone use for a remix. But then again, I guess that is one of the great things about being in...

3Lau and Ivan Gough,Feenixpawl & Axwell

Today I have some music for you that is inspired by some new EDM music. We have seen a lot of new EDM releases, and that is super exciting. But today I wanted to bring a song that didn't fit into that mold of EDM music which we have today. And yes, this is an older song, but I wanted to throw it in here because I wanted to bring a bit of resurgence of music to the post. We hear a lot more house and electro based pop songs. But this song is different. This song brings us back to what EDM used to sound like a few years ago. So to kickstart this nice little homage to the past, is some music by a pretty underground artist known as 3Lau. This act consists of one guy doing some incredible things with music. I guess you could call him a Las Vegas prodigy, especially considering he picked up DJ-ing after traveling around for a bit. But 3Lau has a really interesting style, blending dubstep and different versions of house. Some of 3Lau's claim to fame comes from the fact that he is one o...

Jupiter Rising and Capital Cities

Image
Today I have music for you that is 10 years old this year. This song is by a duo known as Jupiter Rising. This song is definitely on the older side of the newer style of pop music but it still has that really appealing sound that we all like. I think what makes this song different from a lot of others is that it has that banter between the two singers that is of the flirty nature. Not to mention the fact that both of these singers have really good voices as well. These are vocals that definitely sound amazing with this electro style. This isn't like the typical house or electro songs and follows more on the pop side. The melody and instrumentation of this song  reminds  me of  late 90s  and early 2000s songs. It has a heavy use of keyboards, synths, and drums. It is one of those songs that is good for clubbing to and can always be a  go to  song for any kind of dance party. This song has been called a ready made synth beat which I can agree with. There isn'...

A R I Z O N A and Kevin Garrett

Image
Today I have some music for you by two artists who are absolutely incredible. Last night I got the chance to see Kevin Garrett and A R I Z O N A perform live in Austin. I haven't been to a concert in a long time, and this was definitely a concert that was a wonderful welcome back. Both artists have a more mellowed out and low key kind of sound, and both artists tend to favor the more R&B route. Now I want to start with A R I Z O N A since they opened the concert. This is a band that came out of Boston, and I love how they make it a point to explore the more obscure parts of music. We have seen a lot of up and coming artists who are really diving into this more obscure side of music, but A R I Z O N A does something very different with their music. A R I Z O N A creates new soundscapes and boundaries that overlap genres. The band purposely focuses on transcendent topics such as love and loss. But what is best of all is that there isn't any restraint. Their music is so free a...

Bobby Green and Armin Van Buuren

Today I have an extremely fun song for you by the artist known as Bobby Green. I am absolutely in love with this song and Bobby Green as an artist. I won't lie, a major reason that I love this song is because of the vocalist Sean Michael Murray. But this song is such a nice change of pace from the bass and beat heavy EDM we hear nowadays. This isn't a song that has moments that make you stop and listen. You are captured from the beginning. The song is so well produced and is very crisp, while also foregoing the heavy beat drops in favor of something more delectable. The composition of this song is actually pretty simple! This song has a synth oriented and non complex beat, which means it works extremely well for the lyrical content of the song. Throw in the electronic dance beats, and you have a song that meshes the vocals and instrumentals in a seamless way. This song is wild and energetic and adventurous and a little bit mischievous and I love that! It bypasses the...

Us The Duo and Phoenix

Image
Today I have a fun and bubbly song for you by the couple known as Us The Duo. I have to say, this song was actually pretty cute! This is definitely a romantic song, but it is put to such a lively pop beat, giving the song a more dance vibe than anything else. This song definitely has a little bit of a pop rock vibe as well, something that I could imagine hearing from a band like Neon Trees or Phoenix. I haven't heard much new music like this in a while, and I really love listening to this style of music again. There is a really nice warmth that comes with a song like this, something that you can't get from just a rock song or just a pop song. It is the elements of pop synths and rock beats that bring this song together very well. Another thing I really like about this song is the fact that it is not overly ambitious in trying to create a boisterous kind of sound.  Us The Duo does a very good job of making this a song that is vivacious and pleasant and the way the vocals are sha...

Stranger Things & Childish Gambino and Tron:Legacy

Image
Back again today! I know this week I was in and out, but now things should be getting regular again. And to start it off, I have the most incredible remix of a song from one of the hottest shows on Netflix. Now, most people would say that this is a remix of a Childish Gambino song, but I like to think of it differently. Without the Stranger Things theme song in this, we wouldn't get the masterpiece of music we hear. Both of these songs blend so well for a few reasons. The Stranger Things theme song is one that is very repetitive. The lines are repeated with more layerings as the theme goes through. But for the most part, it remains pretty consistent with little fluctuations added in here and there. Because of this, the 80s style track makes the perfect back-track. It is relentless and unfazed and serves as a strong base to add other sounds on top. The retro synths and analog instrumental composition is something that is absolutely phenomenal. The brilliant eeriness to the song some...
