3Lau and Ivan Gough,Feenixpawl & Axwell

Today I have some music for you that is inspired by some new EDM music. We have seen a lot of new EDM releases, and that is super exciting. But today I wanted to bring a song that didn't fit into that mold of EDM music which we have today. And yes, this is an older song, but I wanted to throw it in here because I wanted to bring a bit of resurgence of music to the post. We hear a lot more house and electro based pop songs. But this song is different. This song brings us back to what EDM used to sound like a few years ago. So to kickstart this nice little homage to the past, is some music by a pretty underground artist known as 3Lau. This act consists of one guy doing some incredible things with music. I guess you could call him a Las Vegas prodigy, especially considering he picked up DJ-ing after traveling around for a bit. But 3Lau has a really interesting style, blending dubstep and different versions of house. Some of 3Lau's claim to fame comes from the fact that he is one of the best remixers. He started out by doing remixes and won some competitions by submitting his work. It is quite impressive really, and I can see why his music really had him hit the ground running. This song in particular is one of those songs that just gets you in the right mood. It is a mix of the lyrics and the tone of the song that really makes you feel that certain way. It is kind of cool how EDM gives you that feeling of freedom. With this song, you feel that sense of freedom, and the lyrics fill you with this sense of warmth and happiness. I don't know how to describe it, but when I listen to this song, I feel content. I feel like I am full of life and wonder and a part of the universe. The power of music right? One of the greatest works of magic. Today's instrumental song is by Ivan Gough. This song got pretty big thanks to some commercials, but it has been a long time since I have heard this song, and I thought why not post it? This song is one of my favorites featuring Axwell because of how alive the song is. There is so much energy and pumped up feeling to it. Talk about ideal rave music. This song is a perfect description of the music that people should think gets played at raves because it is true! This style of music was the reason I got into electronic music in the first place. It isn't as repetitive as some of the songs today, and it is so well put together. The transitions between the verse sections and the chorus are perfect and the contrast between the two is clear. This song is one of my favorites and it just makes me so happy. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zack Knight and Keys 'n Krates

Today I have a little bit of a shorter post, but I can promise you that it's a good one. Today I wanted to focus on ethnic music, particularly, Indian music. And I have music for you by an artist out of England by the name Zack Knight. Now this is a guy who has a really great thing going on in terms of musicality. In fact, this is something I have seen a lot more of, a nice resurgence of a style of music that definitely went underground for a few years before resurfacing. This hip-hop oriented music is a great style because it is a smooth fusion of Indian and Western music. I mean it is a straight flow between the two, switching between them and making sure the song gets some Hindi in there as well as English. Now this song, in particular, is definitely geared more towards English, with only a few verses done in Hindi and Punjabi, but I seriously haven't been able to get the song out of my head. I mean it has everything- a sick beat, a catchy chorus, and a really good vibe.

Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side.
