Olympic Ayres and Bag Raiders

Image
Today I have some music for you by a band that I just recently started listening to called Olympic Ayres. I feel like it has been such a long time I have posted music like this, so I am really excited to share this one with you all! This is a song that as such a great groove and vibe to it, one of those awesome feel good songs that you can't seem to get enough of. This is a duo that has such an incredile fusion of sounds, something that ranges from dance to indie to R&B. This electrifying blend of sounds leaves us with this awesome summery vibe, one that gets you on your feet. This song is full of such an infectious energy and a great beat. The melody is such a fun and exciting flow of sounds, and the the steady beat is a great way to give the song some wicked funk. This song has a really cool retro kind of sound to it, something that gets the disco of the 80s and the pop and electronica of the 90s. There is a solid indie rock sound to the song as well, and that is what makes t...

R3hab and Jonas Blue

Back again with some music for you! I am doing some travelling now, so my posting may be a bit sporadic. But today I am back with some music by one of the queens of the radio and the dancefloor- Rihanna. Now this is an artist that everyone knows. I mean you can't go about listening to music without knowing this name. Which is why you very rarely ever see me posting anything by her. Features are a different story, as are remixes. That is right, today we are going straight to the remix game. And this remix is one that I absolutely love.  R3hab is one of the best remixing DJs out there. He is also a DJ who is pretty huge in the underground scene, though not so much in the bigger spotlight. And that is all good with me because R3hab has some sick work because of those loose reins. Now normally, he likes to stick with super energetic remixes, opting for something that is a little more intense and banging. But seeing as tropical house has become very popular, R3hab has put a topical danc...

The Suicide Squad

Image
In honor of the greatest movie of the summer being released today, I absolutely HAD to make this post all about The Suicide Squad. I have been waiting for this movie ever since I heard about it being made. And now the time has come for the movie to be released. This is going to be unlike any superhero-villain movie ever created. Not just because the good guys are made up of bad guys, but everything about the film! The entire tone and mood of the movie is unlike any movie in either DC or Marvel. What makes this stand out so much is the sadistic humor woven throughout the film. From trailers, we get to see that sadisitic taste. I mean look at the trailer song. It is an epic and well know song, but is still one that has a more lighthearted tone to it. And putting that as the accompanying sound for the scenes we get in the trailer? Genius! Absolute genius. I mean that sets the stage for what we feel the movie is going to be like, and boy did that capture the Suicide Squad so well. I mean t...

Natalie King Cole and Norah Jones

Image
Today I have some music for you by a lovely swing singer, my favorite female jazz singer of all time. Natalie King Cole takes after her father, having the ability to captivate all of her listeners. I love this particular piece of hers because it is actually a collection of three songs. Each of these three have been taken and folded wonderfully so that one follows the other in a beautiful way. The songs have been carefully connected so that we get to hear the best moments from each song. I love the way Natalie King Cole sings so vulnerably and with no inhibition. She just lets her voice flow freely, creating a romantically centered kind of song. Natalie King Cole sings with so much power and grace, while also being able to tone it down and come back to moonlight serenades. Her vocal range was incredible and we get to hear that on this medley. The notes soar high and beautifully and she nails every note every time. This medley sometimes gives me chills because of how beautiful it is. As ...

The Peaky Blinders and The Godfather

Image
Today's song is from the BBC television show, Peaky Blinders. I am absolutely hooked on this show! I started it only a few days ago and have not been able to stop watching it. This is a show that is a historical crime drama, filled with mystery and intrigue and gangsters. I think it definitely makes it even better since it is set during the 1920's. It really brings the kind of "gangster" that I really really love. The cunning, sly, ruthless, and powerful aura that seems to surround the gangsters of the 1920's is alluring and a bit seductive. This song is by the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and is definitely a quirky song. But this is the kind of song that sums up what the show is like so wonderfully. It captures the essence of the story incredibly well and it also captures the main character in a way that you wouldn't really expect. Now I won't lie to you, this may be one of the strangest songs you have heard, but that is completely okay! I find this s...

Angels & Airwaves and Game Of Thrones

Image
Today I have some music for you by the band called Angels and Airwaves. For those of you who don't know, this band is a mix of members from other big rock bands. The lead vocalist is Tom Delonge from Blink 182 and other members of the band include those from Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, and 30 Seconds To Mars. Angels and Airwaves is a band that I find to be really unique because the members bring styles from their respective bands and combine them together to get Angels and Airwaves. This is a band that does have a rock focus, but a lot of the music is also synth oriented and ambient. This is quite different in comparison to many other rock bands out there because of how synth and electronic driven this group is. This song in particular mixes the rock and snth elements to make a song that is hauntingly dark but still beautiful. There is this great use of reverb to create this grand space of sound that both fills and leaves a lot open, kind of like the universe. This song has a l...

Kero One and Funky DL

Image
Today I have music for you by an artist that I recently started listening to. Kero One is a very eclectic and interesting artist to listen to because of how different his music sounds. His sound is something that we wouldn't take too much notice of if it were just instrumentals, but as soon as he opens his mouth, the entire vibe changes. Kero One has an incredibly jazzy and lounge kind of sound. There is this really nice funk and groove to his music that reminds me of jazz bars. The music is so warm and comforting to listen to, with a nice chilled out and coffee shop kind of sound. And then, Kero One starts rapping. Not singing, not humming or scatting, but rapping. Now I feel like this wouldn't be such a huge shock, but the flawlessness of how smooth everything sounds is what gets me. When you have the kind of jazz that plays in the background, there  has to be some kind of smooth chaos to the entire song. After all, a lot of jazz is just being able to play off the other instr...
