Haley Reinhart and Glenn Miller

Image
Today I have some beautiful music for you, something I haven't posted in a quite a while. This song is a wonderfully romantic and slower song, the kind that makes you stop and reflect for a moment. This song is originally by Elvis Presley, but the version I am writing about today is sung by Haley Reinhart. When I first heard this song, a part of me wanted to sit and cry. I mean this rendition is so incredibly moving, one that is done with so much gentleness and vulnerability. I have to admit, I did have some tears roll down when I first heard it. And that made the song even more beautiful for me. The complete emotional experience I got from this song was so breathtaking, so powerful despite the fact that this song is so soft spoken. Haley Reinhart has a voice that it utterly enchanting and she pours all of her feeling into this song. Normally, she showcases her ability to be raspy and put on the classic rock sound very well. But for this cover, she lets all of that go, and we get s...

DIGY and Imagine Dragons

Image
Today I have some music for you by an artist called DIGY. This is a super nice and chilled out song, something that I have been able to listen for days. What I like about this song is that there is a darker undertone to parts of the song, but the overall sound of the sound is actually brighter than one would expect from a song like this. Now I have to be honest with you, there isn't much that I know about DIGY. He is a very underground artist, one  who hasn't revealed much about himself other than his music. In a way, that is actually even more intriguing, making me want to keep trying to figure out who he is. On the other hand, I actually kind of like the fact that his identity is more mysterious. It adds something to the music, making the music itself something more enigmatic. This song has that sense of abstractness to it, something that really suits the fact that DIGY shows a lot of control in his voice. That ambiguity and ebb and flow makes the vocals stand out even more. ...

Bad Suns and Ramin Djawadi

Today I have some music for you by a more low key band called Bad Suns. My primary exposure to this band was at The 1975 concert. Bad Suns was the opening act and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having my first listen be a live one was very interesting because I could form a better opinion about the band, and I was very impressed. The lead singer of this band has some seriously strong vocals that carry through and really fill up the space of sound. There is a full richness to that voice which embodies the soul of rock extremely well, and the tone of his voice is one that I have not heard from a rock band in sometime. Part of me is reminded of bands like The Killers and Linkin Park, and Bastille-trademark voices. This song has some nice vocal harmonization to it and a pinch of angst which rounds the vocals out very nicely. There is really nice guitar work in this song as well. The main melody for the guitar is rather simple, but Bad Suns messes with the sound that makes it sound really awesome...

Massari and Lawrence of Arabia

Image
Today I have some really cool music for you by an incredibly obscure artist by the name Massari. Shoutout to my friend who showed me this song! I was honestly really impressed by this song. It has all the sexy elements of a Spanish song while being sung completely in English. Seems less than ordinary right? BUT what makes this song different is the fact that there are a lot of Middle Eastern influences in the song. Which is completely warranted because Massari is actually Lebanese-Canadian. What I love about this song is that we get that cultural immersion with the way this song is composed. The melodies have a very distinct Middle Eastern theme to them, with the scale pattern that is associated with the Middle East. That Arabic sound is coupled with Latin sounding beats. I could be wrong in my opinion as to how they sound. It could be that the percussion and beat is still along the lines of Arabic sounds, but I also get that slight bachata beat. Either way, this song is a very smooth ...

Zak Diesal and Junkie XL

Today I have a really cool and slightly weird song for you. Now this is actually a mashup of two songs by Fetty Wap. But, this is a punk and hardcore rock version of the mashup. Which is normally really strange to think about, but Zak Diesal pulls it off so well and honestly I am pretty much in shock at how good this cover is. There is something about that stereotypical punk voice, the kind that borders that metal voice. It is really deep and the vowels are more elongated and I just love the way it sounds, as if they could let out a little bit of a screamo type scream any moment. That could be the inner rocker in me, but man I have to say Zak Diesal has a hell of a voice. I know this is normally not the kind of thing that people listen to, and not the kind of voice most people know and appreciate. But I can definitely tell you that this is a really wicked sound, something that any serious rocker would kind of drool over. Now Zak Diesal does an absolutely incredible job of turning Fetty...

R3hab & Dyro and JETFIRE & Happy Enemies

Today I have some good, solid electronic house music for you. In particular, I have some Dutch house for you, by the one and only Afrojack. What is Dutch house you ask? In a nutshell, Dirty Dutch is that electronic music style that incorporates a lot of Latin beats and rhythms, with less emphasis on the bass and high pitched synths. Actually when you listen to Dutch house, we don't really hear that high pitched and squeaky synth that we get from other genres. Which I am not complaining about because that gets to be way too much for me sometimes. But this song is actually the remix done by R3hab, another Dutch house artist, and Dyro. This remix is a fast paced, action packed song. I mean this is the kind of song that can keep you pumped up for hours, especially when on the workout grind. This is actually on my workout playlist because if is so full of energy and has that relentless thump that makes it nice and rhythmic. R3hab is an artist who has dabbled in different styles of music...

Spencer Kane and Sugarland

Image
Today I have a really sunny and lovely song for you by an artists known as Spencer Kane. Now this song is actually a cover a song by Pentatonix. Normally it is the a capella group that does the covers, but now we have the opposite happening which is a weirdly nice plot twist. The song from the get go is one that has such an adorable and sweet vibe to it, something that is happy and bubbly. The whole song has that really warm feel good vibe to it, something that is cute and has this nice brightness to it. Spencer Kane has a really smooth voice, but there is this nice underlying roughness that kind of makes the whole thing sound complete. He also has quite a mature voice for his age, but that depth is so suitable for this song. He has a smooth falsetto that he transitions into at the end of some lines, like a nice lilt in his voice. Spencer Kane makes his voice sound as smooth as honey and as sweet as sugar which is pretty much exactly what a song like this needs. Everything about this s...
