Zak Diesal and Junkie XL
Today I have a really cool and slightly weird song for you. Now this is actually a mashup of two songs by Fetty Wap. But, this is a punk and hardcore rock version of the mashup. Which is normally really strange to think about, but Zak Diesal pulls it off so well and honestly I am pretty much in shock at how good this cover is. There is something about that stereotypical punk voice, the kind that borders that metal voice. It is really deep and the vowels are more elongated and I just love the way it sounds, as if they could let out a little bit of a screamo type scream any moment. That could be the inner rocker in me, but man I have to say Zak Diesal has a hell of a voice. I know this is normally not the kind of thing that people listen to, and not the kind of voice most people know and appreciate. But I can definitely tell you that this is a really wicked sound, something that any serious rocker would kind of drool over. Now Zak Diesal does an absolutely incredible job of turning Fetty Wap's hip hop sound into a straight rock and slightly metal sound. There is no trace or hint as to the fact that this was originally supposed to be a hip hop jam. This sounds like something I would have listened to in the early 2000's, that grungier and punk era. There is a ridiculous amount of guitar work going on here. Zak Diesal definitely knows how to wield a guitar, and the man slays so hard on it. And what makes it even better, is the fact that the guitar riffs are all so smooth and very crisp at the same time. He transitions between notes so cleanly and sharply that we get to hear every single note. Zak Diesal really took the original songs and created a mashup that is completely original and something completely different. In a strange way, he also kept the integrity of the song as well, the melody and the sounds, somehow he gave the music a makeover but still stayed true to Fetty Wap. That is something that is incredibly hard to do and I commend Zak Diesal so much for creating a mashup that is so unique. Hip hop has officially gone punk with this mashup, and I absolutely love it. Today's instrumental song is by Junkie XL, one of the most unique composers out there in the cinematic world. He creates epic music in a way that I have not heard any other composer do. Junkie XL has a very distinguishable style, one that is heard in some of the most epic soundtracks ever. His compositions often includes multiple styles of drumming and drums themselves, sometimes some synth and programmed lines like we hear in trap music, and an incredible use of electric guitars. His style is one that we hear in some really epic action movies, and often times, those movies are known for being extremely action packed. This particular composition is from Mad Max: Fury Road. Not only was this movie boss, but the score was the icing on the cake. The score made this film the epic piece of work that it is. Junkie XL is one of the greatest unknown composers I have ever heard. His music spans many movies and genres, and he brings in his experience with big beat and electronica music to create scores that are unbelievable. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
