Haley Reinhart and Glenn Miller

Today I have some beautiful music for you, something I haven't posted in a quite a while. This song is a wonderfully romantic and slower song, the kind that makes you stop and reflect for a moment. This song is originally by Elvis Presley, but the version I am writing about today is sung by Haley Reinhart. When I first heard this song, a part of me wanted to sit and cry. I mean this rendition is so incredibly moving, one that is done with so much gentleness and vulnerability. I have to admit, I did have some tears roll down when I first heard it. And that made the song even more beautiful for me. The complete emotional experience I got from this song was so breathtaking, so powerful despite the fact that this song is so soft spoken. Haley Reinhart has a voice that it utterly enchanting and she pours all of her feeling into this song. Normally, she showcases her ability to be raspy and put on the classic rock sound very well. But for this cover, she lets all of that go, and we get something so sweet. We get something that is completely human, full of tenderness. She bares her soul and heart to us in this cover, something that is so hard to do, but is one of the most poignant experiences to have. Haley Reinhart gives a performance that is elegantly simple, making this timeless ballad something that is a tear jerking collaboration of souls. Haley Reinhart hits every note, every lilt, every little nuance. She makes this ballad anew, turning it into something that is expressive and emotive. She is accompanied by only a piano, playing a harmonizing line to fit against the melody Haley Reinhart sings. The effortless grace that comes with the piano makes this song even more of a romantic and heart filling song. What made this song even  more moving for me, was watching the video that accompanies the song. Normally I am not one for watching music videos, but this was stunning. The love story that unfolds before our eyes is one that is intimate and emotionally raw. It is such a wonderfully done video, showcasing the love that exists between two people. This is a real love, a story that we can connect to, a story that we can understand and completely feel. And maybe that is why I was so touched when I watched it. Because this was something I could believe was real. This was a love story I could believe and wanted to exist. This is a love story that I would want to have in my life, one that is full of the simple things that make up those special moments. Elvis Presley's classic has been turned into a delicate masterpiece, one that really reaches the heart and soul. Today's instrumental song is by the wonderful swing and big band composer Glenn Miller. This is actually one of my favorite compositions of his. I have always wanted to slow dance with someone to this song because of how romantically gentle it is. There is something so charming about the way swing music expresses romance and love, and Glenn Miller does it in a way that sweeps you off your feet. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
