Anberlin and The Gladiator

Image
Hey everyone, back again! Today I have another round of songs that could make my list of the top 5 songs that have changed my life. This first song is by one of my favorite bands of all time, Anberlin. Now what makes this song so special to me, is that this is the first song by them that I have ever heard. And it swept me off my feet and blew me to the moon. I mean this rendition was so beautiful, and listening to this song is what opened my mind to music. Without Anberlin, I would have no idea what is is like to really feel a song and I would have never gotten into music. Not many people listened to Anberlin at that age, and even now, a vast majority do not listen to them. In my eyes, that is such a loss for them. There is a musical genius with the band that cannot be heard by most other bands. I mean everything put out by Anberlin is immersed in feeling. Whether it is love or angst or frustration or loneliness, Anberlin writes those emotions into lyrics and music notes. My love for A...

Switchfoot and Karl Jenkins

Today I have some more sentimental music for you. I was going through my Facebook today, when I happened upon a post that The Script had made. And in this post, it talked about the five songs that changed their lives. For each member, what were the five songs that proved to be the most significant pieces of music in their lives? And that was a really hard question for me to answer. It is a question that I still do not have a definitive answer for because of how my musical journey was mapped out. But I found this question to be one of the most beautiful questions ever asked. Having to think about those five songs mean that they are worth remembering. It means that they are songs that mark moments in life that are so precious and are reminiscent of the moments that sculpted you as a person. Now this question is one that makes you think of the soundtrack to your life. Everyone has one, we all have those special songs for those special moments. These songs would be on the album of greatest...

Dr. Srimix and Offer Nissim

Image
Today I have some remixed and mashed up music for you! So this song is pieced together by the one and only, Dr. Srimix. Now I have to tell you, out of everything that has happened since becoming a dancer, discovering Dr. Srimix and the cohort of Bollywood fusion DJs is the greatest part. Dr. Srimix has a knack for finding Western and Bollywood songs that fit so well together. Somehow, he makes the songs become puzzle pieces, and manipulates them into fitting exactly the way they need to. Of course, this is nothing short of admiration and a testament to the incredible skill that he has as a DJ. The Indian dance community in the US is quite large, and Dr. Srimix is the most well known and popular DJ among the dance network. And for absolutely great reason. He has created mixes with songs that I never even thought to listen to on a regular basis, let alone use for a remix. But then again, I guess that is one of the great things about being in a community like the dance one. There is so mu...

Adam Lambert & Tove Lo and Rudimental

Image
Today I have some music for you by an artist I am absolutely in love with. Adam Lambert is a highly underrated singer, one who had a huge moment of spotlight during his run on Amerian Idol, but has since stayed within the underground scene. However, I think that suits him best. Adam Lambert is a man who sings for the sake of creating music, creating something that we can all connect to and understand and feel. Even if it means we just find it to be something great to dance to, Adam Lambert makes music for the love of music. So Adam Lambert's recent album is one of the best I have heard in a long time. Each song sounds different, and each song is a beautiful expression of Adam Lambert's incredible vocal range and ability. From EDM to soul to emotive, he seems to cover all the bases. In this song, he tackles not only R&B, but the art of collaboration. Now a lot of artists collaborate with each other, creating songs that we love to jam out to and sing along to. But the interes...

VanLadyLove and Peter Pan

Today I have some music for you by the artist known as VanLadyLove. The first time I heard this song, I had chills up and down my arms. This is a song that has a lot of feeling poured into it, but not the emotional kind of feeling. This is something that beckons the call of freedom and adventure and letting go and moving into the unknown. This song is something that is immersed in inspiration and makes us feel that sense of having our own wings to go forth and go on our own. But at the same time, the song addresses that we cannot live in the world of our dreams. We have to be able to bring all of those sentiments to the real world, and we cannot run away from everything that we have to face here.So when we look at this song, there are some really nice things that are going on to make this a completely feel good song. For starters, this song doesn't use guitars much, and opts for using a mandolin. I really enjoy the mandolin. It is a stringed instrument that gets used more often tha...

SuperBowl Sunday With Coldplay and Lady Gaga

Image
Today was SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!! For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the Superbowl is the American football championship, and is our biggest sporting event of the year. That being said, of course it is going to be more than just a football game. It is a show, a performance, a spectacle! This is the game of the year that everyone wants to be a part of. From going to watch parties to making sure you see every commercial, the Superbowl is an event that is highly looked forward to and is weirdly enough, one of the biggest traditions in America. Now since we have a game this big, there is a halftime show in which an artist or set of artists perform. And this year, it was one of the bands most dear to me, Coldplay. Now I am going to be honest with you and say that this was the greatest halftime show I have ever seen. Coldplay is more than just a music group. They are genuine artists, lovers of their craft. They don't perform, they put on a show, and an unforgettable one at tha...

Conor Maynard & Ne-Yo and David Guetta

Image
Today I have some music for you by the artist known as Conor Maynard. Now I won't lie, I have not really heard much of Conor Maynard's music, but I was pretty impressed with the first song I heard by him. Which also happens to be this song! What a coincidence. Accompanying Conor Maynard on this track is one of our beloved R&B singers, Ne-Yo. I have to say, Ne-Yo has really changed up the style of music he performs in and contributes to. It used to be that he was more focused on the R&B and soul side of things, preferring that hip hop crowd. But lately, most of the songs I have heard Ne-Yo in, have been collaborations with DJ's and EDM artists. That is something that is really different from his past work, but Ne-Yo has really made it work! I actually think his voice in melodic hose music or EDM in general, is a great addition to the music because it fits in so well and is a smooth finish. This unusual route of making music is something that really suits Ne-Yo, and I...
