VanLadyLove and Peter Pan

Today I have some music for you by the artist known as VanLadyLove. The first time I heard this song, I had chills up and down my arms. This is a song that has a lot of feeling poured into it, but not the emotional kind of feeling. This is something that beckons the call of freedom and adventure and letting go and moving into the unknown. This song is something that is immersed in inspiration and makes us feel that sense of having our own wings to go forth and go on our own. But at the same time, the song addresses that we cannot live in the world of our dreams. We have to be able to bring all of those sentiments to the real world, and we cannot run away from everything that we have to face here.So when we look at this song, there are some really nice things that are going on to make this a completely feel good song. For starters, this song doesn't use guitars much, and opts for using a mandolin. I really enjoy the mandolin. It is a stringed instrument that gets used more often than you would think, but rarely gets the credit for being a part of the music. But this song opens up with the plucking of the mandolin strings, and it also sets the tone and melody for the whole song. That is quite an important role for any instrument to play, and I am just glad that we get to hear more from the mandolin as the song goes on. The melody that is played on it is the same, but it serves as a nice base melody to build from. This song also features extremely powerful vocals. Not necessarily powerhouse vocals, but these are notes that get easily belted out with so much fire and passion. They are powerful in their delivery, not in their physical strength. It is definitely possible to sing loudly but without purpose, however with this song, the vocals are very firm and confident and present. And with that comes the power of volume and emotionally strength. This is a song that is food for the soul, and the vocals in this serve as such a great fuel to that. The vocals are the main power and main attraction of the song, seeing as the instrumental background is a lot simpler when compared to the vocals. However, the percussion work in this song is a lot more complex than what is normal for a band. The percussion spends way more time at the forefront and plays louder than would be expected. We hear more from the drums than we do from the mandolin or synths. This is a song that relies more on having the deeper and more resounding drums. These are the kinds of drums that can leave the air vibrating for a while after being struck. But that also adds so much to the song, especially since it gives a little bit of a wildness and strength to the song. VanLadyLove is all about the human experience, and expressing that element through music. And I think they do a beautiful and wonderful job of that. These songs all have such dynamism to them that they reflect the consistent inconsistency that comes with life. There are low points and high points, moments filled with so much life and energy and those slower moments of contemplation and reflection. I really do appreciate this about VanLadyLove, and I really do encourage you all to listen to the rest of their music. It is quite spectacular. Today's instrumental song is from the recent motion picture score of Peter Pan. Yes, it was done on purpose, given the content of our first song. But this score is such a wonderful work of art! James Newton Howard is a superb composer, one who knows how to create pieces that are magical and inspirational. His scores have the power to sweep you off your feet and help you soar to the heavens. This is, in fact, one of those pieces. This song lets you take flight and let your wings free. You can feel the glorious independence and freedom of being able to fly and it has such an uplifting sound that it makes you feel like anything is possible. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
