Adam Lambert & Tove Lo and Rudimental

Today I have some music for you by an artist I am absolutely in love with. Adam Lambert is a highly underrated singer, one who had a huge moment of spotlight during his run on Amerian Idol, but has since stayed within the underground scene. However, I think that suits him best. Adam Lambert is a man who sings for the sake of creating music, creating something that we can all connect to and understand and feel. Even if it means we just find it to be something great to dance to, Adam Lambert makes music for the love of music. So Adam Lambert's recent album is one of the best I have heard in a long time. Each song sounds different, and each song is a beautiful expression of Adam Lambert's incredible vocal range and ability. From EDM to soul to emotive, he seems to cover all the bases. In this song, he tackles not only R&B, but the art of collaboration. Now a lot of artists collaborate with each other, creating songs that we love to jam out to and sing along to. But the interesting thing about collaborations is that if they are done well, they often times seem so much easier than they actually are. When you tackle a collaboration, you have to find someone who is willing to work with you, someone who wants to explore a different sound and technique of working, and someone who can meld into your own voice the way they can openly and freely use their own. I am honestly very impressed when people do collabs because it really is not as simple as it sounds. But Adam Lambert picked a very great artists to duet with. Tove Lo has reached a lot of popularity recently, and for good reason. She does have a great voice, and with the kind of music she is involved in, her ability to pull off everything from R&B to EDM is fantastic. Which is why she was such a great choice for working with Adam Lambert! They have very compelling voices on their own, and when you bring them together, there is a wonderful balance that can't be shaken. Something that really made this work is the fact that Adam Lambert has stripped down a lot and allowed his vocals to really shine through. He has let go of the theatrics in favor of slightly weirder sounds, but that actually works for him. Considering that his past two albums have been very extravagant and even a little burlesque, this change of pace may have been what he needed to revive his music. With this song, we get hand claps and lonely synths. It is a sign of music that has softer edges, but still boasts a mature and fierce sound. While I will say that Adam Lambert does not necessarily have a sultry voice, he does have a softer and more acoustic voice that easily doubles up as the vulnerable sound he needs for this song. The vocal layering between Adam Lambert and Tove Lo is also one of my favorite parts of the song. He takes the lower melody while she takes the upper octave, and that completeness in sound is exactly what the song needs. With a backdrop of synthesized waves, Adam Lambert is able to let his voice soar alongside that of Tove Lo, and it seems almost magical. Today's instrumental song is by Rudimental. This song has gotten popular recently, but I can see why. It features a vocalist who is the big thing right now. Everyone wants a piece of Ed Sheeran, and I am no different from those people. I definitely am a huge fan of Rudimental, and have always like the low key nature of their music. It is something you catch yourself humming or dancing to, but when you don't expect it. This is the kind of song that gets stuck in your head but you don't necessarily realize that. Either way, I love this song! I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
