Dhoom and Delirious & Alex K

Image
Today I have some really cool music for you. Both of these songs have an ethnic and cultural feel to them, so that shakes things up a bit! This first song is an older song from the world of Bollywood. Now it isn't super old, as in from the 70's or 80's. But this song comes from the early years of my childhood and strangely enough, is one that I still remember listening to for the first time. This song comes from the movie Dhoom, a trilogy of movies centered around a cop and catching criminals. This is the main theme for the first of these movies. This is the first song to represent the series, and I love it! I have actually heard some sick remixes of this song, but haven't been able to find them on YouTube, which is a tragedy. But all three movies have had awesome theme songs. Each one has been different, depending on the plot of the movie. But all in all, definitely am happy with the way the songs turned out. So this one being the oldest, being the original, features a...

Barcelona and Oblivion

Image
Today I have some music for you by a trio that make up a band I am absolutely in love with. Barcelona is one of those underground bands that doesn't necessarily fit the stereotype of what a "band" is supposed to sound like. I mean some people would call them and indie rock band, but even that is not necessarily the most accurate description of Barcelona's sound. See, a lot of their music tends to follow the lines of synth pop and indie pop and a more transcendent kind of sound. That is actually one of my favorite things about Barcelona. Their music has a sound that can take you to a different state of being, a different state of thinking and feeling. And that is something so special and amazing. Barcelona's vocals usually tend to be more vulnerable and gentle and soft. There is a sense of passion and longing and even a little bit of sensuality. Barcelona also sounds just as good live as they do in recordings. I actually couldn't tell the difference between the...

Future and Drake

Image
Today I have some music from the rap side of the spectrum. It dawned on me that I have completely neglected that area of music for a while now, and that I have had this particular song stuck in my head for a while. So this song is by Future, an artist who recently has begun to see a lot more popularity. Now the biggest thing about Future is that he speaks a language all of his own. As in, no one else but Future understands Future. In almost all of his songs, I have no idea what he is saying. Which normally would irritate me a little, but I have to hand it to Future, he knows how to make some really catchy music. This song is ridiculously catchy. The song has a great beat to it, something that would go really well at a club or bar. It has enough of a sound to be something people can dance to, but is also laid back enough to be something you just kind of listen to while hanging out. Future uses this laser like sound every few bars, which punctuates the song and adds this sense of intens...

Jaymes Young and Sufjan Stevens

Image
Today I have a song for by the artist known as Jaymes Young. This song is so smooth and chill, and is something that I completely love and enjoy. There are these little nuances in this song that give it personality and substance. For example, one thing that the song uses is the electric guitar. That isn't something you normally hear in a song that has more of an electronic and chillstep vibe, but that guitar work adds this really nice R&B flair to it that really fits the song's sound. This song has a nice upbeat kind of sound to it, something that transitions into a little bit of a slower sound. But even with that slower sound, there is a really nice liveliness to the song. This song definitely has a little bit more of a sexy feel to it, which is something that definitely goes with the territory of R&B. That is actually something super great about this song. There is a great balance between being a little bit R&B, a little bit rock, and a little bit electronic. But ...

Avicii & Nicky Romero and David Guetta

Image
Today I have music for you by two of the biggest names in the electronic scene. To be honest, when you put Avicii and Nicky Romero together, you can't go wrong. Its literally two sounds of awesome that come together to create something phenomenal. I really like the way this song feels and they way the tracks are layered onto each other. This song is just kind of magical because it has so many feelings mixed into one. But all of these feelings are bright, like happiness, love, and fun. I could not stop dancing to this song because it has that infectious energy that tends to pervade your entire being. Which is great! Today's instrumental song is one of my favorite songs by David Guetta. This also has such a great dancing feel to it and both the instrumental and vocal versions are incredible. The bass isn't too dominating and there is more of a melodic flow. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Shy Girls and Explosions in the Sky

Image
Today I have music for you by an artist out of Portland who goes by the name Shy Girls. This song is definitely one that I can listen to a lot. It has that calm electronic feel but it also has elements of a rock band. To be honest, I was greatly reminded of The 1975 when I first heard this song. Many characteristics of this song are similar to The 1975 and follow the styles of genres such as power pop and indie rock. There is a good balance between the two of them, falling a little bit more on the indie side in terms of overall sound, but it falls more on the electronic side in terms of producing the song and which sounds are most prominent. It is very interesting how we get the best of both worlds in such a way to where things are perfectly balanced but also unbalanced at the same time. It takes immense skill to be able to make something like that and I can't help but notice the impressive nature of the making of this song. I also kind of like the minimization and softening of the...

Disciples and Man Of Steel

Today I am coming back and have some new music for you and hopefully it will be some good stuff for you guys! This first song is a really smooth and chill remix of a song by OneRepublic. As it is, Ryan Tedder has a phenomenal voice that can pull off so many different sounds and genres. What I love about this is that he unintentionally came up with a song that had the right vibe and sound to it that we were able to get this remix from Disciples. This song has that really chill sound from house music and it almost doesn't even sound like house. It seems to laid back for that! However, I think this remix is really sick. It maintains the elements of OneRepublic song like the vocals, but the melodies in this song have been so perfectly done so that a whole new sound is created. I understand, this is a remix and of course it is a new sound. But Disciples makes this song completely different and the song itself has a totally different melody. How wicked is that?! A lot of times when peopl...
