Future and Drake

Today I have some music from the rap side of the spectrum. It dawned on me that I have completely neglected that area of music for a while now, and that I have had this particular song stuck in my head for a while. So this song is by Future, an artist who recently has begun to see a lot more popularity. Now the biggest thing about Future is that he speaks a language all of his own. As in, no one else but Future understands Future. In almost all of his songs, I have no idea what he is saying. Which normally would irritate me a little, but I have to hand it to Future, he knows how to make some really catchy music. This song is ridiculously catchy. The song has a great beat to it, something that would go really well at a club or bar. It has enough of a sound to be something people can dance to, but is also laid back enough to be something you just kind of listen to while hanging out. Future uses this laser like sound every few bars, which punctuates the song and adds this sense of intensity. This song also has a sustained hook, one that keeps the wordplay coming even if the rhyming scheme isn't necessarily there. I mean let's be honest, most raps are just lengthy poems with a beat and percussion added to it. But for the most part Future uses the same sounds to end his sets of lines. But again, I can't deny how good some of the wordplay is. This song may actually be Future's most popular song to date, and I can see why. There is a specific kind of style that rap today follows. I think the best way to describe it is to take a step back and listen to the song as a whole and not try to find specific nitpicking factors. Rap music today tends to take on a darker and more intense sound. The percussion becomes the most important addition to the song, and on top we have a specific kind of special effect. But a lot of rap tends to follow this same formula, Future included. It just so happens that Future chose the phaser gun kind of sound. I do have to say, this song is definitely an earworm, and you won't be able to get it out of your head for a while. Whether that is a good thing or not is something I will leave up to you all to decide! Today's instrumental song is one of the most popular songs out right now by Drake. Don't worry, it isn't a certain song that has a viral music video to go with it. But this song was pretty popular when Drake's album dropped. It has the same characteristic rap sound that has gotten very familiar nowadays. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
