CL & Diplo and Chennai Express

Image
Today I have some newer music for you. Now what makes this song one of the coolest things to come out recently is that it features one of Korea's biggest artists, and one of the most worldwide known artists-Diplo. CL is possibly the biggest female star in Korea, if not the biggest star they have. She has done some incredible work in her tenure with the Korean music industry, and definitely destroys all stereotypes associated with K-Pop. To be quite honest, she is basically the Nicki Minaj of Korean music. She has this incredible intensity to her entire persona. The way she looks, dresses, the style of music she produces, and the fact that she is a rapper. There is a wonderful amount of swag and bad assery surrounding CL, which is only heightened by the fact that she is a pretty awesome rapper. This is part of CL's US debut, and just overall Western debut. And when you consider the kind of music that is starting to get really big and more popular lately, this seems like the best...

Justin Bieber and Thomas Jack

Today I have some new music for you. I totally have been slacking on the posting, I know. Let me tell you, it has been quite the roller coaster ride these past few days. But hey, I got some new music for you, and hopefully you will all enjoy! This song is actually the newest release by a very well known artist. Justin Bieber has been quite the topic of discussion for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. I mean look at his past history, and you may understand why he has been the victim of many a criticism. However, I have to say that in terms of music, I have heard nothing but progression. Justin Bieber has evolved from a pubescent teenage pop-singer, into an artist who has started to define his musical style. I can easily characterize Justin Bieber as an R&B artist with the flair for touching the EDM world. Which we get to hear in this song. He takes on an alternate route with this song, opting for something more chilled out rather than the standard bass boosted kind of sound. In f...

EXO and N Sync

Today I have some more foreign music for you, from the world of Korean music. I have to say, I have really gotten into Korean music. Not the stereotypical K-Pop kind of music, but some more of the more intense kind of music. This song is by the boy band EXO. Now I say boy band, but only because it is made up of a bunch of guys and they dance. But that is pretty much where the similarity ends. EXO is a pretty big group with more members than would be expected from a boy band, but these numbers help this group so much. One of the things about Korean bands is that dance is a huge part of the song, just as much as the music. EXO has the numbers and the talent to fuel the dance side of their act, and they also have a wide range of voices to choose from when creating the actual song. In this song we hear a wide range of voices, from a deeper sound to a gorgeous falsetto. Yep, that is right. Even in songs like this we still get to hear falsetto and it sounds pretty damn great. EXO takes a dif...

Gungor and How To Train Your Dragon 2

Image
Today I have some slower, more soothing kind of music for you. This song is by the group known as Gungor. This is a group/collective that was started by the musician and composer Michael Gungor. He has been nominated for quite a few Grammy's for his work in song writing and work with the group. Now one of the things that I love about Gungor is that they have a sound that can be a little punk, but also have this wonderfully acoustic sound as well. They are like a rock band that has decided to put on an acoustic show. There are other bands out there whose music can be compared to Gungor, but again, there is a different sound specific to Gungor. One thing I noticed immediately was the way they harmonize. It is not always easy to create intricate harmonies between male and female voices. But Gungor creates this wonderfully complex scale of harmonies, which at times, gives the song a slight punk sound. But it also creates so much depth in the song, making it something you would need to ...

Kygo & Dillon Francis and Chromeo

Image
Today I am back! I recently moved into a new place, only to find that I had no internet access. So I sincerely apologize for the missing posts. But today I wanted to get the ball rolling with some new music out of the EDM world. This song is a very interesting collaboration done by Kygo and Dillon Francis. Now what is very cool about this song, is that Kygo and Dillon Francis bring two completely different sounds to the table. When you look at both artists respectively, they each have styles that are pretty unlike the other. Kygo hails from the land of tropical house, a genre that I believe he created. Kygo has that very distinct sound, a signature synthesizer sound, that distinguishes him from every other artist out there. And then we have Dillon Francis. This is a man who likes to the put the crazy in his music. Dillon Francis tends to have a little bit more range, but is most well known for his work with moombahton music. He also has a knack for making high energy songs that are ver...

Morgan Page and Now You See Me

Image
So today I have some music for you by the always entertaining, Morgan Page. This is actually a remix of a sound by The Outfield, and it kicks some serious butt! I love this song so much because the vocals are great and there is a very dynamic hook in this song. I found myself dancing to this song and doing some head banging, so hopefully you will too! Today's instrumental song is from the movie Now You See Me. I have to say, pretty great plot twist in this movie, and you might recognize the similarities to The Count of Monte Cristo in it. Even though that may have given the movie away to some, I don't want to say anything else but that I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!

Lil Dicky and Kendrick Lamar

Image
Today I have some music for you by an artist that I recently started listening to, courtesy of a friend's suggestion. Lil Dicky is possibly the funniest musician I have ever come across. I mean every one of his rhymes are full of so much social commentary, but they way he brings his point across is just so hilarious. Now I am not going to lie, a lot of people don't take him seriously. I didn't take him seriously at first either! But then I heard some of his songs and I rescinded all previous thoughts on his music. Lil Dicky is one of the most real artists I have heard. The thing about him being a lower key kind of artist is that he can talk about a wider variety of topics without getting a lot of heat over it. And rap he does, about all kinds of things. From relationships to creating satire rap, Lil Dicky takes his humor to the words to make songs that are subtly powerful. If you actually pay attention to the words of his rhymes, the messages can be a bit controversial, but...
