George Ezra and The Walking Dead

Image
Today I have music for you by an up and coming artist out of the UK. George Ezra is an artist who delivers very different kinds of folk and blues music. His specific style or genre is actually very hard to define. It is full of complicated mixes of blues, rock, folk, soul, etc. However, his music as a whole is utterly recognizable. In his debut album, Wanted on Voyage, George Ezra explores the entire spectrum of folk music, from acoustic folk rock to classic Western sounds. For an artist who is just 21 years old, George Ezra has an extremely mature voice that he knows how to control. His voice is rusty and gravelly and rough around the edges, but there is a charm there that captures you and keeps you held in awe. George Ezra is one of the most distinctive sounding singer in the world of blue-eyed soul. What is special about this voice is the capability of belting out the notes and then switching to something softer, soothing, and even a little bit intimate. Each song tends to take on m...

Manic Drive and Hansel and Gretel

Image
Hey guys, sorry about not posting yesterday. But, today I have music for you by a band known as Manic Drive. This song has a really wicked sound to it because it captures the intensity of hard rock and a heavy house beat. This song had a great combination of the two of the and honestly I think this song sounds pretty darn bad ass. I feel like the main melody is pretty simple but the background adds so much to support the main tune. There is a point in the song where there is an electro/guitar solo and when you hear that one specific segment it becomes clear how important the instruments are to this song. I love the way this song was made because most of this song relies on the use of conventional band instruments and the idea of hard rock and maybe even a little bit of metal. Now I might get some flack for posting a song by a Christian rock group, but my intention is merely to spread around this sick music. If you are bothered by the religious affiliation of the people in this group, t...

The Funeral Suits and Robin Hood

Image
Today's song is an amazing song by an incredible band called Funeral Suits out of Dublin. They have this interesting indie and baroque sound that is just great! This song in particular has a great melody, which you can hear at the beginning, and just an overall sound that is energetic and very unique. This band is definitely worth delving deeper into because they are so damn talented and different! The Funeral Suits is a band that really like to have this slight quirkiness to their music. And to be honest I like that too because it sets them apart. They really do take on a baroque style sound to their music which very few bands do nowadays. I have never heard them sing live so I can't really give you an idea of how they might sound, but I am hoping they are good.  Today's instrumental song is from the movie Robin Hood. I just like this song a lot and it is very different compared to many other movie scores I have heard. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to com...

Felix Cartal and Bassjackers & MAKJ

Image
Today I have some more electronic music. This first song is by an electronic artist who seems to enjoy staying out of the huge spotlight. Felix Cartal is one of my favorite DJ's right now. His music is really fresh and very different in comparison to a lot of the vocal electronic tracks that are being pumped out by the industry. Felix Cartal takes time with his tracks, but that is also the reason we get awesome songs like this. The vocalist in this song is of course phenomenal, as are all EDM vocalists. But what really catches you is the drop after each run of the chorus. That adjoining instrumental part of the chorus is just banging! There is so much energy in this song and this is one that makes you want to let loose and go crazy. And lets be honest, that is the best kind of dancing This is a song that evokes that crazy, giving no care to what others think, kind of dancing. Felix Cartal is an artist who really makes the music his own. A lot of big name artists can sound simi...

Keys N Krates and Knife Party

Image
Today I have some music for you by Keys N Krates. I have not posted a lot of music by them which is kind of bad on my part because as far as trap groups go, Keys N Krates is pretty freaking dope. This song just kind of gets you in this wild and crazy mood. When I hear this I feel the need to go crazy on the dance floor because why the hell not? The first drop we hear is already pretty sick, and then when we get to the main drop, we get this mix of trap and a little bit of trance which seems like it would be totally weird, but it works so well with this song. This song is a different step for Keys N Krates who usually put out these intense and hardcore trap songs, but this definitely has elements of a more ambient kind of song. I like that though, despite the fact that I love Keys N Krates' normal hard trap stuff. This song features a lot more synth work and less heavy percussion. This song is just too good and I can't get enough of it! Today's instrumental song is some more...

One Direction and Graffiti6

Image
Today I have music for you by the biggest boy band in the world. There is a lot of talk with One Direction, some people liking them, some people disliking them, and a handful of strangely obsessed people. Now I must tell you guys the truth, I did not start out as someone who listened to One Direction. However, I have grown to like them a lot. With the passing of each album, One Direction has matured from being the stereotypical adolescent boy band to a group that has some really nice adult contemporary music and a group that has a nice and mature sound. What is even nicer about this group is that you can clearly hear the progression of each individual singer and you can hear how each of them have improved. To me that is a good sign, because a group that is willing to improve upon something that is already a worldwide sensation shows me that there are even greater things to come. Now this song is off their latest album titled Four. I guess it is practical considering this is the fourth...

Cricket World Cup

Image
OKAY today is such a big day in the world of sports for pretty much the entire Eastern Hemisphere. Why, you may ask? Because the cricket world cup occurred last night and was pretty much awesome. For those of you who don't really know what cricket is, it is one of the biggest sports worldwide. Sadly, America has not really gotten into cricket, but decided to create baseball instead. Baseball is very much based on how cricket is played. Cricket is played with a bowler which is similar to what a pitcher is, and a batsman with the remaining players as "fielders" of sorts. Cricket is a long game, I can't deny it. But it is quite the game, and cricket matches can be so much fun, especially when people get all riled up. But in honor of the Cricket World Cup, I have to play some music from the teams that were up against each other. This year, the contenders were India and Pakistan. AND INDIA WON!! Of course this was super exciting for me, and I thought some nice celebratory ...
