Today I have some serious soul and R&B. Jarell Perry has one of the most incredible voices in the world of R&B that I have heard. Sometimes I cannot fathom how completely beautiful this song is and how phenomenal his voice is. Jarell has this passion and power with which he sings, but he still maintains this grace and softness to his voice. Everything about this song is so perfect and well put together. This song is about the pain of love and what love can do to you. The beginning drum beats are akin to a heartbeat but are not actual heartbeat recordings. I thought that was pretty sick because on almost every occasion, there would have been the real sound of a heartbeat. The percussion rendition of the heartbeat adds something wonderful to the song because it brings something a little bit more abstract to the sound. Today's song is by Afrojack and Shermanology. This song has an addictive beat and awesome vocals! This is definitely a song I would be caught dancing to! Afrojack is just phenomenal, plain and simple. He uses the synths really well in order to create a rhythm that serves as a support to the opening vocals and as a harmonizing line. The bass is not super heavy in this song either which suits very well because the vocals really shine. In fact, the vocals are supposed to outshine the instrumental portions of the song and the vocalist easily does this. Her voice is simply incredible! She sings with so much power and strength. It goes very well with the softer electronic sounds in the background. While this song is really energetic and great for dancing, this is still a song in which the programmed sounds and synths are not too heavy as to detract from the pleasing sound we get. Today I have music for you by the musical project known as Anchor and Braille. For those of you who have never heard of Anchor and Braille or don't know much about them, this project was started by the lead singer of Anberlin. He created this project to record songs that had been written but never recorded with the band. Stephen Christian had written these songs, but these did not have the same energy and feel of Anberlin. Anberlin is known to be a heavier rock band with some more grunge elements to it. But Anchor and Braille takes the more indie and slow and sad sides of Anberlin and creates songs that really make you feel. These songs are more intimate, more personal. Every song I have heard by Anchor and Braille makes me feel something in my heart and my soul. Today I have music for you that is a really nice cross of genres. Bollywood music is known to be very energetic and very good for dancing. This song is really sick because it mixes the beats of Bollywood with the crunk of Western hip hop. I have to say, this remix is one of the best things I have heard. It mixes a very popular Bollywood song with one of the most popular hip hop songs from the past five years. What I love about this song is that there is an equal presence of the hip hop and Bollywood songs. A lot of time with remixes, we have to deal with one song overshadowing another. But with this song, we get a really awesome combination of the two. What the DJ does in this song is use the instrumental parts of the Bollywood song to serve as background music for the rap verses. Today I have music for you by the DJ known as Duke Dumont. Now I really like his style of music because he knows how to make his own mixes and he can remix really well too. Duke Dumont has that nice chill and fun electronic music. He knows how to make a song that has a more chill vibe to the music, but he also maintains enough energy to the song to make it really exciting and different and new. This is one of those really good summertime songs that you could make your anthem. While the song itself is not an anthem, there is something about it that makes it sounds like a song that could be your personal theme. Today's song of the day is by a small Australian group called Strange Talk. They sound like a mix of Phoenix, The Strokes, Foster the People, and Fun. combined. Its quite great! This is their first single ever and I really liked it. Not only is the song really catchy and pretty dancy, but the music video is really cool too. I think this song is really well balanced between all the instruments and the beat is really pumped and energetic! Hopefully you will all like it! And if you have not heard of any of the other four bands, I strongly recommend that you go listen to them because they are so amazing! I am keeping this post a little bit shorter because I feel like everything that can be said about Michael Buble is in the way he sings. He sings with energy and passion, and his songs are so vivacious. This song is one of those really fun ones that takes a modern twist on big band and swing. What I love about this godsend is that he is talented not only in the singing department, but in performing as well. He knows how to entertain while he sings and he also knows how to effectively make some groovy music. When you listen to music like this, you can't help but want to get up and dance or sway and snap.
