Jarell Perry and The Weekend

Today I have some serious soul and R&B. Jarell Perry has one of the most incredible voices in the world of R&B that I have heard. Sometimes I cannot fathom how completely beautiful this song is and how phenomenal his voice is. Jarell has this passion and power with which he sings, but he still maintains this grace and softness to his voice. Everything about this song is so perfect and well put together. This song is about the pain of love and what love can do to you. The beginning drum beats are akin to a heartbeat but are not actual heartbeat recordings. I thought that was pretty sick because on almost every occasion, there would have been the real sound of a heartbeat. The percussion rendition of the heartbeat adds something wonderful to the song because it brings something a little bit more abstract to the sound. This song does not necessarily have a dark sound to it. Honestly, I find this song to have something very sensual and sexy to the way it sounds. This song kind of has the allure of dark temptation. When I hear this song, I see waves of different shades of grey going through my mind. This is not a clear but black and white song, but rather a song that likes to stay in between. And that idea of having a sound that is both bright and dark is really incredible. I think the picture used in the video is an apt description of where the song lies on the spectrum. Jarell Perry composed this song so well to have that juxtaposition between being in love and dealing with the pain of love. This song has that great R&B beat to it where all we get is the percussion and maybe a little bit of synth. That simplicity compliments the incredible vocal work done by Jarell Perry. You hear him with just one stream of voice, and you cannot deny how beautiful his voice is. But then you get to the chorus and everything will blow you away. I was left in awe the first time I heard this song to be quite honest. The chorus has a magnificent layering of his voice, providing the harmonies and octave changes. That is right. Not only does Jarell Perry do the normal vocals, he also does all the harmonies, including that spectacular falsetto. The entire chorus rides on that falsetto and what a gorgeous sound it is. Jarell Perry has a falsetto unlike any other I have heard. It is strong, powerful, and full of raw emotion. I think that is what sets this song apart from every other R&B song. Jarell Perry sings with so much passion and emotion and it sounds like he is stripping away all the walls and barriers so we can see his true self. I am officially in love with Jarell Perry and I highly recommend you all go listen to more of his music because it is absolutely incredible. Today's instrumental song is a version of a song by an artist known as The Weekend. The two artists featured today have quite a bit in common, and I thought it was only appropriate  to put these two songs together. Both artists have amazing voices and an incredible gift for creating songs that are unique and original to themselves. They both have that smooth and sensual R&B sound as well. Today is all about that soul and R&B and maybe even some music that is worthy of the bedroom. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
