Chloe Howl and Robyn

Image
Today I have a weirdly intriguing song by the artist known as Chloe Howl. Her voice is really cool because it has this R&B feel to it but she pairs it with electronic music. This is what a really cool progressive house could sound like. But this song is not actually part of the realm of straight electronic music. There are elements of electronic music, no doubt, but this song is not necessarily classified that way. Chloe Howl is from Britain and you can hear her accent throughout the song. I actually really like the accent. I think it adds character to the song because you already start to imagine a night in London during the summer with music and lights blazing. The accent really helps set up the scenery and in turn that adds so much flavor to the song. This song falls into the category of a certain style of songs that are starting to become very popular. This style of music is quite popular in Europe which is awesome because it has been able to open doorways for this music in Ame...

Vance Joy and Dead Poet's Society

Image
Today I have music for you by a singer who goes by Vance Joy. This song is really cute and has a great upbeat sound to it. This is really nice because indie music like this is starting to come to the forefront, but Vance Joy really stays true to his style. Another artist he could be compared to is Of Monsters and Men. However, Vance Joy has a different involvement in indie folk. This song has a great combination of genres in it. The ukulele brings this really nice folksy sound while also providing a slightly tropical and reggae sound. When the bongo drums enter, that is when we really get to hear that fusion of genres. This song uses a couple of different types of percussion in it. The conventional drum set provides the beat and the bongos have a harmonizing percussion line. You can also hear the beats provided by other drums like the snare drum. The way all of these beat providers stay together impeccably well and remain in sync when the song speeds up for a little but is phenomenal. ...

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Emissary Beats

Today I have some foreign music for you, straight from the world of Bollywood. This song is really cool because it features sounds from bhangra and Western styles. This song is just so much to dance to and listen to. As someone who is an avid dancer, this song will be hard to sit still to. This definitely uses fast paced bhangra beats as the basis of the song. Honestly without those beats the song would not have much life to it. But of course the Western influences are very prominent. From the beginning, all you really hear is the electronic work going in but then when it gives way to the awesome bhangra, the song gets so wicked. This song is just so much damn fun! The beat is at the right speed to where you can dance in beats of 2 or dance immediately on the beat. Once the song really gets into swing, the electronic work doesn't even sound bad! It actually really compliments the song because it provides filler music to connect the bhangra beat to the melody of the song. But this s...

Ariana Grande & Nathan Sykes and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Image
I am so sorry about not posting last night! But I am back today with a song that will either break your heart or fill you with warmth. For me, every time I hear this song, I always imagine myself slow dancing with the man of my dreams. Ariana Grande is a girl who can sing. When you take her out of context of the pop songs that come out in which her voice is not being true to her capabilities, her voice is absolutely incredible. This song is so enchantingly beautiful because of the harmonizing and combination of Ariana Grande's voice and Nathan Sykes' voice. What I love about this song is that it has an extremely romantic feel to it, but it is romantic in the classiest way ever. Lately, songs like this are harder to find from artists other than Michael Buble and such, but this song blew me away. The first time I heard this song I had to stop what I was doing to listen to it. This song has a soft swing and jazz influence to it and uses the simplicity of using just a piano to give...

Union J and Austin Mahone

Image
Today I have music for you today by the English boy band known as Union J. One of the great things about the UK is their creation of boy bands that are actually good. A lot of American boy bands are okay and a couple really stand out, but English boy bands are all simply fantastic. They have such a wide range of musical styles, from the pop sound of One Direction to the electronic sound that Union J brings in this song. This is the first song I had ever heard by Union J and I am damn glad this is the first taste I got of their music. This song has everything going for it! This song has the sound of an EDM song which of course is a huge plus. But this song is like one of those really awesome songs that focus on making a great combination of pop, electronic, and soul. This song opens up with a beautiful piano solo which then gives way to the first verse. But even through the first verse, all we get is piano. There is no electronic additions, just the keyboard and the beautiful voices of ...

The Ninetys and Flaxo

Image
Today I have some more electronic music for you! It has been quite some time since I have put any trap music up so that is what you get today. This first song is a remix of a song by The Ninetys. This song is exactly what R&B and rap would sound like if trapped out. Some people may think this is weird but I think this is sick as hell. This song has a chill sound but it also has this really smooth sound to it. The lyrics really aren't important to this song because it is all about the beat for this. I like the way this song is really psychedelic and dark. Darker trap always sounds so much better because it is something you can hang out to all the time. This is just one of those songs that are so nice to chill to and do anything to. This may sound like a lot of low key rap music or R&B music which is really nice. Today's instrumental song is by Flaxo and is one that you can become addicted to to an extent. Of course, being a trap song, this has sick beat to it. That is ac...

Armin van Buuren and Martin Garrix & Afrojack

Image
Today I have some electronic music for you after a long time of not having anything like this. It definitely has been quite a few days and electronic music withdrawal sucks. So this first song is a remix done by Armin van Buuren. Talk about a guy who really knows what he is doing, Armin van Buuren has been in the electronic music scene for years. And it is clear as to why he has still progressed and made it through even after all that time. His music has so much substance to it and so many different and interesting things happen in each song. This one in particular is a remix of a song by Kat Krazy who is a great artists, no doubt. But Armin van Buuren has a seasoned ear and the talent to make this song even better than the original. He adds an intense element to the fun sound that we get. There is a great balance between the two ideas and he deftly crafts beats that make you want to get up and dance. They make you want to go crazy and have a one man dance party if necessary. That is h...
