Keeping It Fresh

Today I have some incredible music for you off one of the albums that might be one of my favorites of the year. Tiesto dropped his new album recently and it is so damn good! This is consistent with Tiesto's usual vocal style but it also has a more prominent electronic feel to it. The vocals used in this song belong to the lead singer of American Authors. This is one of the things I love most about Tiesto. Not only does he know how to produce good music, but he knows how to do so with the best vocals. He spans across all genres and brings them all together with his electronic music. The melodies of  the chorus are so inspirational sounding and have this uplifting and fun feel to it.  When I listen to this song I imagine myself with friends doing some cheeky things at night and just having the best time of our lives. Today I have music for you by a band called The Summer Set. This song is like a breath of fresh air in the world of punk rock. This song is a great song to call the vacation anthem or summer anthem. This song is just bursting with energy and a fun feeling to it. I think this song is so appropriate for summer not only because it has that fun feel to it, but the lyrics talk about passion and love and freedom and excitement, all things that define how summer and vacationing is. It captures the feeling of driving around town while standing up out of the sun roof of the car. It brings that feeling of basking in the sun and playing in the surf. Now when it comes to the production of this song, I think it is brilliant. The vocals are incredible! There is a softness to these vocals that remind me of The Cab's lead singer. Today I have a really awesome but interesting song for you by Wolfgang Gartner. Now as far as DJs and musicians go in general, Wolfgang Gartner is a a favorite. There is a certain originality and signature sound that Wolfgang Gartner has. You hear this particular sound in every song, from the super popular ones to the lesser known songs like this one.This song is extremely catchy and has a very intense background beat which serves as an awesome pulse and thrum for you to follow. Everything about this song falls into place. The overlaying synth work melds and twines within each other to create a full sound. I absolutely love how the chorus sounds because it is one of those intense sound that you would work out to, or run to, or if you are like me and let your imagination run wild, the chorus has a sound that would make me feel like I were in a fight. Today I have music for you by a group known as Blind Scuba Divers. What is pretty cool about this group is that while they are rap oriented, there is a level of electronic work in this song that is pretty sick. When you look at this group, it is definitely not what you expect, but that defiance of stereotype makes this group even better. This trio works in the electronic feel really well by using it as a chorus and hook. From the get go, the song gets you enamored with a strong opening and the leads to a softer rap. This rap is very different from a lot of other rappers out there because there is a softness to the voices that you may not expect from rappers. It is almost a soothing voice and then you really listen to the lyrics and it is completely different. A great juxtaposition of these soft voices and rap lyrics is really awesome I think. Today I have some music for you by one of my favorite rappers ever, Tinie Tempah. This song is such a boss song with so many things going on that makes it pretty damn sick. First, the song starts off with a hook that is absolutely contagious and is one that will not leave you standing still. From the get go I was on my feet dancing away to the beat. And then that initial beat segues into a heavy trap feel that really gets you dancing. There is something about this beat that induces extreme movement and causes you to want to get on the floor and show the world what you've got. The lyrics to this song are pretty crazy and I think it's kind of awesome how he references so many different artists from all genres in this song. I also like the fact that his English accent pops out sometimes and it somehow adds more of a bad ass feel to this song. Today I have some music for you by a more low key band called Bad Suns. My primary exposure to this band was at The 1975 concert. Bad Suns was the opening act and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having my first listen be a live one was very interesting because I could form a better opinion about the band, and I was very impressed. The lead singer of this band has some seriously strong vocals that carry through and really fill up the space of sound. There is a full richness to that voice which embodies the soul of rock extremely well, and the tone of his voice is one that I have not heard from a rock band in sometime. Part of me is reminded of bands like The Killers and Linkin Park, and Bastille-trademark voices. This song has some nice vocal harmonization to it and a pinch of angst which rounds the vocals out very nicely. There is really nice guitar work in this song as well. The main melody for the guitar is rather simple, but Bad Suns messes with the sound that makes it sound really awesome...

Today I have the newest song by Robyn a nd  Röyksopp   for you. Robyn has a really cool style to her persona and music. This song in particular goes back to the older style of electr onic music with vocals. It even has a slight disco feel to it, which is something that Robyn can do so well. They went back to the beginning and worked from scratch to make this. From the beginnings of electronic music, this is what they have pulled from that age and combined with the new era of electronic music. I think this style of music suits Robyn so well and she is able to pull it off so well, especially with the type of vocals she has. This song has an upbeat and dance feel to it, but the lyrics scream sadness, loneliness, and desperation of many kinds and that creates an innate pull to the song.
