Keeping It Fresh

Today I have music by the group called Rock Mafia. This might be one of their most famous songs, but I can see why. I love this song so much! Here is the cool thing though. Rock Mafia actually started as song writers and producers for some big names in the industry. They have worked with so many different types of artists, across a spectrum of genres. Now this song in particular is an absolutely phenomenal song because it relies heavily on the drum and vocals to make the song. The guitar serves as filler noise instead of being the main sound, which is very unique to music in general. Usually, the guitar is a key component to songs like this, however, its minimal part in the song makes this song even better. We can really focus on the feel the drums give along with the incredible vocals. In case you don't know, this is a guy singing the entire song and I absolutely love his voice. It has a very nice tone and sound to it, slightly higher with a smoother and more connected sound. But ...

Today I have music by a band that is quite small by the name Rogue Valley. I can tell you that if it weren't for The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, I would have never heard of this band. Which would be a shame considering that they are absolutely brilliant! Rogue Valley has a very impressive command over working the acoustic guitar while harmonizing a male and female voice, and composing a story that touches the very essence of our being. I think this band is absolutely awe-inspiring. It is very rare that you find an artist that is truly committed to telling a story throughout the album, and having each song be a stage or a chapter in that book. This idea of making each song connect to tell a whole story is something that I find to be incredibly beautiful, creative, original, and just plain genius. To tell a story about the ideas that we as humans try to shut out or ignore, the emotions that we go through on the eternal roller coaster that is life...This is the greatest aspect of mus...

Today I have music for you by a lesser known electronic duo called The Knocks. I recently heard this song by them and completely fell in love. This song is such a great dance song and is one that you can just chill to. There are points in the song when the extra harmonies and melodies cease, and just a single repeating rhythm is heard. Not only is this sound great, but it serves as the backbone of the song. It is probably most prominently heard at 2:22. I think you will get what I mean as this sound being the backbone. It serves throughout the whole song and everything else layers on top. Which brings me to another great thing about this song! The Knocks very smoothly layer on the sounds one by one until it becomes the complete sound that they want us to hear. It is so cool because it gives and inside to the production of the song while also showing us the importance of every sound to its own. And of course the vocals make this song positively complete. Today's instrumental song is...

Today I have a song for you by an electronic artist that I am absolutely in love with. Adrian Lux has such an incredible sound to his music. There is always a certain feeling that he evokes with the melodies and harmonies within the song. This song is particular has a darker energy to it, but it is one of those songs that makes you want to explore the darker depths. The first time I heard this song was actually on Teen Wolf. I don't quite remember when they used this song, but I can clearly imagine what kind of scene they would have used this song for. It makes me think of either a dance or when something intense is about to happen. I personally find this an awesome song to workout to, especially running. It has that deep thrum that forces you onwards. Today's instrumental song comes from the movie Oblivion. I have to say, this soundtrack truly is a masterpiece. I highly recommend that you all listen to it at some point because it will blow you away. I hope you enjoy the music ...

Today I have music for you by a band that really started to take off about 3 years ago. Atlas Genius really came to the forefront with the release of Trojans and then If So. However, this whole album is absolutely brilliant. There is something very unique about their sound and it makes it hard to put them in a single category. And this fact is absolutely amazing because it means that they are able to cater to so many types of listeners. The vocals in this song are very smooth and feature the idea of stretching notes, especially on vowels. This along with almost a 70's or 80's influenced synth and guitar in the background creates a very original sound and an individualistic feel to Atlas Genius. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Cowboys and Aliens. Now to be quite honest, I was not a huge fan of the movie, however, the soundtrack s pretty spot on. That is one of the best things about music-it can still be amazing even if the images and visuals accompanying it are n...

Today I have the newest song by The Bingo Players. Part of me likes to think that this song was made in part for and dedicated to Paul Baumer. It seems that his spirit is present because this new single is very very good. This song does have slightly melancholy melodies to the it, especially in the background. But it also has that inspirational feel to it. The Bingo Players met a blow and are now rising back up from being knocked out. I love the chorus melody, especially with the underlying supporting harmony. This is definitely a fantastic dance song and I can't wait to hear it played in clubs. There is a constant source of energy, however it is dynamic. This song is full of both sadness and strength, a perfect expression of the current situation. We love you Paul. Today's instrumental song is by Tiesto. This is a man who has perfected the art of DJing. He knows how to read a crowd well and can play the greatest songs while also remixing on the spot. Talk about genius talent! ...

Today I was definitely in the swing mood, so I have music for you today by the great Michael Buble. This song is very happy and has that bright energy that a lot of songs like this have. The title of the song is very appropriate for the feel of the song. I love the romantic sweetness this song while still remaining very classy. I think that is one of my favorite things about this kind of music. It can be very cute and about love without referencing things like sex all the time. This song is just a beautiful one that uses the idea of big band so incredibly well. I can't help but smile when I hear this song because it really does make you feel good. This is one of those songs I can see being performed in a really fancy hall or in a nice hotel, someone crooning away with the grand piano. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Midnight in Paris. This movie is really cute and the score is absolutely amazing. It captures the essence of the older decades, the sophistication, clas...
