Justin Bieber and Miguel

Today I have some music for you by an artist who has completely turned things around with his music. I think we all know who Justin Bieber is and how his progression of music has changed signifcantly. He has gone from singing teenage pop songs to being one of the biggest artists in the R&B world as well as a popular EDM vocalist. I have to say, I am quite impressed by him! There is such a maturity to his voice now, one that reflects a lot of different emotions. We've seen his name in the headlines for some pretty rough situations, but I think that has helped him grow musically. As a person, I can't really say. But his entire sound has changed and I am excited to hear more of his solo work based on this new sound. Today I want to explore more of the R&B side of his music. This song is one of my favorites off his latest album. This whole album has been a really important step for Justin Bieber. After all the shenanigans we know he's been involved in, this album shows us his humility and maturity in a way that we haven't seen from him. A lot of these songs are on a more chilled out side of things, with a few clubbier sounds, none of which get you raging. But that is what makes the album so brilliant. The blend of dance and R&B is what gives the album the perfect energy setting. It isn't a downer or boring album, nor is it a club banger. There is a greater focus on deeper emotions that include repentance and apologies. The album is also a chilled out electronic dance kind of album. The sounds are lush and vibrant. We have the signature chipmunk vocals, the sunny synths, and bass. There are parts of the percussion sound that also make the album shimmer with the high hats and it adds just a hint of brightness and flavor to the music. Now this song in particular is definitely more of a chilled out R&B track. The placement of the song in the track is really nice because it is a break from the more EDM dominant tracks, and he brings us down to something that is smooth and more mellow. This song is all about making a surface level connection with someone. It isn't about having sex or getting any girl Justin Bieber wants. This is more about having someone to talk to and be around. There is no reference to fulfilling his urges, and Justin Beiber tends to focus more on the connection side. The biggest thing about this song, is that it shows this idea of being open emotionally. And because Justin Bieber is focusing on emotional connections, it makes the song feel a lot better. This song is all about seeking companionship on a lonely night or whenever you feel lonely. I like this idea a lot because it is very different from R&B content that we hear today. It isn't about the sexual tension or further. It is about connecting to someone as a person, A lot of R&B today is more about the seductive and sensual side of things, and while this song definitely has a sensual sound to it, that isn't the main idea. I am so happy to hear the way Justin Bieber has changed. Today's instrumental song is another great R&B singer, Miguel. I love his voice so much. It is silky smooth and rich like coffee. And his music is equally as smooth. He tends to follow that more mellowed out kind of R&B sound as well, which makes this song a really nice compliment to the first one. This is Miguel's first lead single, and one of his most famous songs to date. It is nicely energetic and has a thrumming beat which keeps the song pushing onwards. It is a nice upbeat kind of sound, and keeps us in a really good mood. This isn't a feel-good song, but somehow still makes things a bit brighter. The songs tends to use synth a lot, and strives a little bit towards to the EDM realm. It is a slight touch of electronic dance music but, still, has enough R&B to keep the song at a lively slow jam level. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
