The Gaslight Anthem and Arrow

Today I have music for you by a punk band out of New Jersey called The Gaslight Anthem. In particuar, this song has a really sick vibe to it. There are elements of different kinds of rockers and rock bands in this song. I can hear subtle hints of a Springsteen-esque sound as well as a little bit of The Killers. Now this could also be the way the vocals sound. The vocals in this song have this nice gritty and rough sound to them which makes this song have a little bit more of a wild sound to it. I am actually a huge fan of a voice like this. Usually voices like this don't make it into the spotlight which is a total and complete shame because it is very unique. The Gaslight Anthem is another one of those bands that really draws from old school rock and takes that older style to mold it into their own sound. However, because The Gaslight Anthem does draw a lot from Bruce Springsteen, there is more light being shed on these guys. And I have to say, it is for good reason. This band doesn't have that stereotypical band feel to it. While the music is easily classified as rock, it does not follow the idea of mainstream rock. This song kind of follows the footsteps of The Killers if they were mixed with a band like Blink 182. This band has a great sense of balancing out the gravelly vocals with a melody that is more upbeat and bouncing. This song also has a great sense of a driving energy instead of a seething pot of energy. This song also draws some influence from the 50's side of rock and soul. A lot of times, these two were synonymous but nowadays there is a stark difference between the two. It is nice to hear that the two of them are coming together again even if it is just a slight mixing. This song is meant to inspire genuine interest and energy and excitement, something that music seems to lack at times these days. This song provides a very interesting twist on the idea of bringing back and old sound. They way The Gaslight Anthem does so is very spectacular. This band is able to make a song with clear inspiration from decades past but does so in a way that the song seems completely modern.  In my opinion, this hits home the older idea of punk and rock instead of what we hear today. This song captures the feel of real rock, a driving force that is hard to catch up with and meet. If you are a rocker of any kind, this song will sound good and right to you. It is something you will be able to gel with really well! Today's instrumental song is from the show Arrow. This song really has nothing to do with the first one, however, it is still an awesome song to listen to. Not only is Arrow a phenomenal song, the music used in this show is perfect. This song captures that heroism that accompanies the show, but it also captures the danger and intrigue associated with the plot. This is a show that is full of those twists and turns and having a score such as this to be an opening theme is spectacular. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
