Opia and Troye Sivan
Today I have some chill and calming music for you. This song is by Opia, a duo out of the United States. Now this is a duo who has recently started making their way to the forefront. This is the first debut single from the R&B duo, and I have to say it is quite impressive. They show a mastery over the electronic and alternative side of R&B, and that is something that does not come easy. This song has really nice smooth and silky sounds, giving the song a completely relaxed and chilled out vibe. There is no sense of urgency or excessive energy. If anything, this song carries a little bit of a sensual vibe to it, and I am such a fan of that. This is a duo that shows us immense talent through this song. As a debut single, a lot rides on the way that the song goes over with the masses. And I have to say, I think this song has gone over extremely well. This song has a nice funk to it, one that lives in the mix of R&B and electronic music. There are some elements of the blues in this song, which I am such a fan of. It adds so much more flavor to the song, giving the song a great sound to follow. There is a lot of creativity and talent that we hear with this song. The way the song starts out with a simpler sound, and then evolves into the choruses that we get to hear, is something that I really do like. The song has a consistent base that gets built on top of with the vocals and other melodies. Speaking of vocals, I absolutely love them. They are not crisp and clear, but rather have a muffled and auto tuned sound to them. They are not too auto tuned, but just enough to add a little bit of an electronic buzz to them. The vocals also tend to live in the upper register, spending more time in the lower notes of the falsetto range. But I like that! There is still a nice sound quality to the way the song is sung, and that is what really matters. I actually love the way Opia throws in the blues guitar in the background of the song. I think that stands out so much in terms of how electronic music is progressing. The blues of the guitar is what gave this song that main melody and chorus. Wonderful, isn't it? There is this nice element of smooth jazz in this song, and that is what gives it the chill and seductive vibe. The rounded melodies and thrumming bass gives the song a more complete sound. Opia is a duo which I hope to hear a lot more from. This song was absolutely fantastic and I really wanted to share it with you all. This song is great for anything, lounging or creeping or eating and maybe even studying.. At the end of the day though, this is the kind of music and the kind of vibe I would love to get . Opia is a a great crowd and we thank you so much for coin out and supporting Anyway, moving onto the instrumental song of the day. That is going to come from one of my favorite solo artists right now. Troye Sivan got a lot of his fame and discovery through YouTube, which is so great. And his music is absolutely incredible. Every song sounds different even though there are similar musical themes across the board. But this is a kid who knows how to create music that speaks to the darker and quieter parts of the soul. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
