One Direction & Drake and Lilo & Stitch

Today is a day for some mashup music! I think it takes a certain amount of creativity to write your own songs and produce them, but another kind of ingenuity to be able to bring two songs together, and turn them into something that is different and unique. And what is more, is that many of these songs that get mashed together, are often not from the same genre of music. You can have an acoustic rock song mixed with pop music, rap and contemporary, and folk and EDM. The combinations and possibilities are endless! So this mashup is one featuring one of the newest singles dropped by One Direction and one of the biggest songs of 2015, featuring the one and only Drake. Now there are a couple of really great things going in on this mashup. First, both of the songs happened to be covered before being grouped together. And these covers are the ones that have come together to create this really wicked song. Now Drake's song is covered by a male and One Direction by a female. I actually really like that because there is this really nice balance between male and female vocals, and that always makes a song sound much better. One Direction's song sounds really great as a female cover because it is at that really great pitch range to where the female vocals are exhibited so well. And Drake's song sounds really great as a male, not only as a balance, but also because he takes the gentleness out of having a female cover. I am not saying all female covers are delicate and softer, but I am saying that this particular cover sounds pretty incredible as a male vocalist. On top of that, both of these covers are really good, and I really do enjoy them. The vocal layering in this song is spectacular as well. There is a really good balance between the two songs, how long they are featured, and how concentrated their focus is. A lot of times, DJs will have one song play and then transition into the other and consider that the mashup. But with this song, we have both of the individual covers harmonizing and weaving in and out of each other. The two songs are featured together, at the same time. The mashup is really a combination of the two songs, to the back beat of Drake's song. One Direction's song can be heard in the background of Drake's and vice versa. There is no dominant song, but two songs that have equally play time. This really is such a sick mashup, something that I would not have thought of ever. One Direction and Drake seem like an unlikely combination, but they work so incredibly well together. The entire song takes on a more tropical and chill house vibe, which is also a really neat and brilliant change, especially since EDM and dance music have started becoming the norm. But I have to give it up to the man behind the mask of Plot Twist. This mashup is ridiculously good. Today's instrumental song is from the movie Lilo And Stitch. This is quite the throwback movie to be quite honest. I was such a young one when this first came out, and I adored it. Something about Stitch was so adorable and sweet and mischievous and I loved that. But this theme has a really positive and happy sound to it, something that could relieve those in search of happiness and a life without pain for just a second. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
