Collabro and Beauty And The Beast

Today I have music for you by a group of singers out of England who go by the name Collabro. They were actually a part of Britain's Got Talent, and did very well. What makes this group so different in comparison to every male group out there, is that they sing more broadway and theatre kinds of songs. They have powerful and large and strong vocals, the kind of vocals that you would hear as a part of a play or production. And I love that! I mean when is the last time you heard of an all male group who sings classical music? It is something we haven't heard in a very long time, and the resurgence of an older style of singing is very refreshing. This is the first song they ever performed together, and it honestly leaves you spell bound. It comes from the musical Les Miserables, also known as one of the most famous musicals of all time. It is a timeless classic, and needs that kind of a vocal performance to really capture the essence of the story. It is just so incredible to hear voices like this from a group of men from this generation. It is not easy to be able to perform this style of music, and even harder to do so outside of the musical scene. But Collabro takes everything in stride and belts out some of the most beautiful renditions I have ever heard. I mean this is a band that leaves me with chills after listening to a few songs. They sing with so much passion and pathos and it just leaves you so impressed. There is a natural chemistry and ability to harmonize, and you can hear that from the first joint note that is sung. Each member has a distinct kind of sound with their voice, a specific thing that they bring to the group. But even with that sense of individualism, they are able to sound like one unit when they combine all the voices. It just sounds like one loud and powerful voice. Of course, once the harmonies and melodies are added on top of the main melody, the magic really starts to happen. There is something so completely natural and beautiful and real about Collabro's music. There is no need to overly indulge and try to make the song even more complicated than some of them already are. Collabro sings the way they feel the song needs to be sung, with all intent and purpose that song originally has. Collabro is all about taking a famous song and making it their own, but still keeping the integrity of the original song. I just love the fact that this is an all male group who specializes in the art of singing musical numbers and classical pieces. And I am so glad that something so unique has been able to really make a presence today. I am absolutely in love with Collabro and I am always clamouring for more of their work! Today's instrumental song is from the movie musical adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. In case you couldn't tell, I have been on this wonderful musical binge, listening to the soundtracks of so many different musicals. There is something so incredibly special about a broadway musical. Each time is a different experience. The vocalists never sing the same way, but every time is something beautiful that should be felt and experienced and loved. I have to give it to Disney though, their production and theatre work is spectacular. All of their musical productions have been works of genius and strokes of art. This one is no less than that. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
