CL and Wizard

Today I have some new music for you, from one of the baddest bitches in Korean Music. That is right, CL has dropped a new song and quite a song it is. Now this song is probably the most hardcore CL has gone, and there is a part of me that really likes it! I won't lie, as I go through the breakdown of this song you will see where the drawbacks of the song are for me personally. But onwards! This song definitely follows the more hip hop route of music, and goes to that really intense and badass kind of sound. This is the kind of song that you would listen to when walking into a room as if you run the joint. From the beginning we are introduced to this consistent bass hit that punctuates at the beginning of every set of four beats. Which is weirdly precise of me to point out, but I do so because I want you to be able to pick it out when listening to the song. And from there we get the main melody of the song, which is definitely electronic production. This is like a weird mix of hip hop beats and trap intensity, which I am definitely down for. But the melody for this song is actually pretty simple and repetitive. But for this song it works because it is not a song that is supposed to make you feel emotionally attached or anything like that. This is a song that is trying to make you feel like a boss and maybe, perhaps, get down like a boss. I won't lie, I did start choreographing some moves in my head while listening to this song, so it could be a really cool group piece to do. But I digress. Now the part that is my absolute favorite is the "beat drop." Now there isn't really a clear beat drop, but for me, it is the parts in the song when the main chorus is over and we get that straight instrumental chorus. And for further clarification, the part that comes immediately after saying the title of the song during the chorus. There is this wicked epicness to it that I can't shake! It gives the overall song more of a hard hitting sound and more of a "in-your-face" kind of sound. And then we have the lyrics. Now I don't know what all of it means, but there are moments in the song when the lyrics don't do it for me. It isn't the words themselves, but more of how they are performed. However, this is of course just an opinion! This song as a whole is definitely a street kind of song, which is honestly a really nice change from all the bubblier music we have been getting lately. And for having this as CL's American debut, I think it was a good choice! We love our rap and so called "thug" music, so this fits right in. But CL does a great job separating herself apart by not only rapping in English and Korean, but also just the fact that she is a woman. I mean I have to say it right now, but look out Nicki Minaj because CL has finally arrived. Today's instrumental song is by Wizard. This song is weridly very low key, and that is probably because the artist is really really independent. But again, that is the point of this blog right? Get the underground music out there! And I cannot deny the talent behind this song. I mean the whole thing is very well produced and it has so much potential. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
