Aleesia Cara and Troye Sivan

Today I have a remix for you! This is a remix of a song originally performed by Aleesia Cara. What is cool about this song is how bubbly it can be while also having a darker core. The way Aleesia Cara sings this song is incredibly smooth and cool. For one, the verses all follow the same general sound, meaning that we get that really cool jilted string of lyrics. She sings this particular section with a cadence that is not like the rest of the song. It turns into a bit of a mix between rap and singing honestly. But the way she performs it is just awesome. There is this really nice sass and rebellion to the entirety of the song. I mean she is singing about how she doesn't like going to parties at all. I don't know any teenager who thinks the same way, so that feisty nature really comes through. Now on the other hand, Aleesia Cara has a higher pitched voice that has this nice energy and soul to it. She really emphasizes certain lyrics, certain words and syllables that create a really cool energy to the song. The background instrumentals are pretty simplistic, so the vocals are what have to provide that dynamism, and she does that very well. She definitely has powerful vocals, though not necessarily in the way that people think. Her voice isn't one of those booming ones, but it is a voice that makes a statement. She makes it very clear that she wants to be heard. And that goes well with the fact that this remix has some heavy hitting drops. It makes Aleesia Cara's even more highlighted, even more prominent and show stopping. Now when we listen to the instrumentals in the background, of course we get the standard bass and synth work. But we also get this finesse from the brass and horns in the background. Which to me is always a bonus because those are the kinds of instruments that give songs a bombast of power. The great thing about trap is that it comes in so many different styles, and this is one style that I totally enjoy. The drop doesn't come simply from a change in tempo or heaviness of bass, but comes from a change in the melody and certain stylistic elements. For this song, it is a change to this jazzy R&B sound, the kind of sound that goes really well with the original indie pop. Aleesia Cara is not a signed singer, nor is she radio famous. Viral hits are the new thing! And to be quite frank, if more of the viral hits sound like this, we can expect some great things to come. Today's instrumental song is by an artist who blew up online and is an artist that I haven't been able to get enough of. Troye Sivan started out as a YouTuber and then moved to making music. The thing is, he is really good at both. A lot of times we are left with people who are good at one and not the other. But Troye Sivan's music is spectacular. I mean the way he uses the synthesizers and keyboards, the percussion and bass. It is scintillating and spellbinding. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
