Arijit Singh and Advantageous

Today I have some music along the lines of emotionally beautiful. This first song comes from the Bollywood film Ashiqui 2. This is a movie that is a sequel to another Bollywood film that was released in the 90s. Not only was it one of the biggest blockbuster films, the soundtrack was positively splendid. This is the most famous song off the soundtrack, and I think it will be quite clear as to why once you hear it. The playback singer Arijit Singh is the man behind the vocals in the song, and let me tell you, his music is some of the most moving that I have heard in a long while from Bollywood. What I like about his voice is that is soft and low, but has a little bit of a gravelly sound to it. This makes him sound even more vulnerable than he does with just listening to the lyrics. And this song is all about feeling the vulnerability of love, and all the pain and hardships that come with life and being able to maintain that love. This is definitely a heartbreaking song, and is also one of the most beautiful ones I have heard from the Indian music industry. This song has been used in quite a few other Indian programs, as well as featured in a wedding video. But what made this even better was that the French Canadian groom sang it to his Indian bride, Hindi words and all. Let me tell you, the sweetest thing ever! I think one of the things that makes this song so beautiful is the simplicity of it all. For most of the song, all we hear is the piano and the vocals. That in itself is such a beautufiul combination, something so easy and simple, but offers up so much passion and emotion. And then of course the lyrics are there to make you sob. Brief translation, he is basically saying that through all the pain and sadness and hardship that life has thrown at him, she is the one constant he has. She is his life and love. This is something so beautifully expressed in Hindi I think, something that even without a translation, you can still understand. And more importantly, something you can feel. Today's instrumental song comes from the movie Advantageous. This is an indie film that came out this year and is currently on Netflix. And I implore that you all see this movie. This is one of the greatest indie films I have ever seen. It is placed in a subtly dystopian future, but focuses so much more on what lies past all the sci fi interests. This movie lacks battles, warriors and fight scenes, raunchy jokes, and humor. But what it makes up for in complete beauty and heart shattering reality is priceless. While the overarching plot has a total sci fi premise, the true plot lies in the relationship between a mother and daughter, and everything this mother will do to make sure her daughter can make it in the world. That she can make it on her own, without living in poverty or having to resort to darker means of making a living. The characters and their relationships and progressions and changes are what make this movie the masterpiece that it is. This is a movie I can and will definitely be watching again. I won't lie, I did shed some tears watching this movie. It is something that everyone can relate to because at some point, we have all been children. And for others, they are mothers and can truly understand the struggles the main character goes through. The music in the movie reflects the challenging circumstances and the unknown. The uncertainty that many of the characters have to go through. A beautiful piece and a truly spectacular film. While I was unable to get just the music, the beginning half of the video explains the beauty of this particular piece. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
