Major Lazer and Tove Lo

Today I have the latest song dropped by Major Lazer. This song is so unlike most of Major Lazer's music, and I totally dig it. Not that Major Lazer's previous work was bad or anything. In fact, I love pretty much everything by them! But this song is pretty out of scope for them and I love the fact that Major Lazer was able to pull off a song like this with so much ease and clarity and honest to goodness amazing sounds. There are moments in other Major Lazer songs that are similar to this one, but there is more experimentaion here and we can really hear that.  This song takes up influence from the tropical house side a little, but tends to delve more into the deep house side of things. There are some clear instances of a reggae beat and reggae melody, but a lot of this reminds me a bit of Kygo. But the thing is, this song has elements that are very Major Lazer related. The drop is very much like normal Major Lazer and the use of that reggae sound is one of the defining characteristics of Major Lazer, But there is this really sick chillstep vibe to this song which is very unlike Major Lazer, I am also a huge fan of the chill trap drop towards the end of the song. It just works so incredibly well and I can't help but bob along to the ebbs and flows of this song. It is of course very catchy even though it isn't super charges with energy. This song is just so infectious and makes you really feel the calmer and more chilled out waves of the song. What I find really cool about this song is that it was musically inspired by a trip that Major Lazer made to India. In an interview, Diplo talked about how India is a place that has one foot firmly in its history, and another foot firmly planted in the future. It is a huge cultural center and has so much to offer in music, dance, and life in general. The attitude that Indian fans have is so overwhelmingly positive and I am actually very impressed with Major Lazer for really caring and incorporating their fans into their music. This song was kind of created with their help! This song just oozes this fun but calm kind of sound, something that I completely enjoy. Today's instrumental song is by Tove Lo. This song also has that chill kind of vibe, especially towards the beginning. Tove Lo is an interesting artist in terms of musical style and lyrical matter. But this song is a nice showcase of what her musical style is. There is this more chilled out vibe to the entirety of the song, but there are bursts of more color and energy which then settles again. This is a song that really has those ups and downs, but I really like it. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
