Robert Delong and Delirious

Today I have some interesting music for you all. This is very percussion based music and has a different kind of energy to it. The tribal sounds are definitely a plus for this song. Robert Delong is actually one of the most underrated musicians. He produces all of his music, writes all the lyrics and melodies, and plays all of the instruments. I mean, it is no wonder why there is a long time span between albums. Robert Delong creates music that is electronic music inspired by alternative rock. There are a lot of genres that seem to meld well enough together, but in most situations, the question of rock and electronic music does not usually get considered. However, lately we have begun to see more mixing of the two genres and I have to say, I absolutely love it. With Robert Delong, we hear from the get go that he blends the electronic and rock music themes to create a tapestry of heavy percussion beats and synth melodies. But the cool thing is that he incorporates poppy vocals to create this kind of dissonance that is enough to keep us totally engaged but not too dissonant to make us cringe. Robert Delong has so much versatility that it is mind blowing. He is like a one-man futuristic dance party, incorporating elements from alternative rock, Diplo styled music, and is as club ready as the big DJ's of today. And within this mix of music, we can still hear his vocals and vocal melody. The indie background that Robert Delong has can clearly be heard streamlined throughout his music. It is so cool because that is almost like his signature sound. It is the kind of underlying sound that all the songs share and make them connect. Robert Delong also has the sickest set of instruments because quite a few of them are so unconventional. For example, he uses a Wii controller to moderate the "wub" and dynamics of the song. He uses game pads for notes and melody writing. I don't know any other artist who does anything quite like this. Robert Delong is someone who is definitely one the rise in the world of music. Not a specific genre, but just the entire world of music. Today's instrumental song is by the DJ known as Delirious. This is the first song I ever heard by them and I am absolutely in love with it. This song is very similar to the Middle Eastern style of electronic music. I think Middle Eastern electronic music is one of the best kept secrets in the EDM world. A lot of these songs have the stereotypical "Arabian" melody to it, with the 1 1/2 step between notes. I think this sounds so brilliant and nasty because it has so much of a cultural flair. That exotic flair is what really makes this kind of music stand out and sound like something charming and mysterious. This song in particular uses a lot of percussion elements from the Middle East which is a completely different sound in comparison to the rest of the EDM world. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
