Future Islands and Savoir Adore

Today I have music for you that comes from the list of best songs of 2014. Now the key with this song is that most of you have probably not heard this song before. And that is fantastic! That means I can bring this music to you and hopefully you will like it enough to start exploring more music by theses artists. This first song is by the band called Future Islands. Now this is a really cool band that has a similar style to that of Magic Man in the sense that there is a very balanced mixture of instruments and synth in the music. This song is their most popular single and I can definitely see why! This song has a really cool energy to it that is not like most of the music we heard in 2014. There is a little bit of a U2 element thrown in there. That tone and mood that U2 generally creates with their music is a little bit like this. The lead singer also has the same vocal style as Bono. This song has this rich calm to it that is very soothing and washes over you. This song is about people changing and how sometimes they change in a way that can make it hard for you to recognize them. This song has a really nice meaning to it and I kind of like that. It is a song that is both inspiring and tells the truth of the world. But this song does so in a way that is so pleasing to the ear and in a way that is catchy. The instrumentation in this song is incredible. I love the way the synth keyboard is used in this song along with the drums and guitar. This is becoming a common trend in a lot of bands, but the way Future Islands handle their compositions is really solid and nice. This is the kind of synth pop that can send shivers up your spine because it is that powerful both lyrically and musically. There is a very interesting soul sound to this song. There is definitely a rock vibe to the vocals, but there is a specific kind of rock sound. There is a very specific and clear rock soul sound that is incredible and strong. That is what I hear in this song and I love that! It is this gentle power that is able to course through your body and mind. Future Islands is a band that I would definitely keep an eye on because they will become a great part of 2015. Today's instrumental song is by a group known as Savoir Adore. Now I can happily say that I love these guys so much. They have such a soulful vibe to them and something that is almost transcendent. It is one of those groups whose music can isolate you in the world and make you notice the wonderful little details about life. This is one of my favorite songs by them! Today's song is a really cool one out of South Africa by the band Kongos. There are so many awesome things happening in this song. For example the first sounds you hear is this really sick accordion work, and yes, these guys made the accordion look even cooler than any other musician out there has. I love the way they use the accordion and the tone of it. And then you hit the chorus which has these really strong vocals and you get the feel from the multiple voices with these sweet guitar licks and such a loud presence with the electric guitar. This song just kicks some major ass! Today's song is by the Beastie Boys, and is one of my favorite songs by them. Ima Robot and Tame Impala

Today I have a song for you by the band known as Ima Robot. Many of you will recognize this song because it is used in the show Suits. Disclaimer, Suits is a wonderfully fantastic show and I highly recommend you go watch it. Anyway, this song has a really cool and suave feel to it. It has that artsy urban grunge to it which I really like. It is a different way of performing rock music and takes you back to the 90's style of music. This song has a really cool charm to it because a lot of the song falls on the support of the bass guitar over the drums. The bass guitar serves as a secondary percussion to the rest of the instrumentals. It is actually kind of awesome how simple the instruments are in this song because when you bring the together you hear a really sick song. The main instruments are of course the bass guitar, tambourine, drums, and keyboard. Nothing else makes an appearance and I like it that way. The music in this song is so structured but so laid back at the same time.

Zayn Malik and Interstellar

Today I wanted to give a shout out to an artist who is both very famous and very underground. Most people know him as Zayn Malik, that guy who was in One Direction but left the band. So a little background, Zayn Malik was one of the five members of the famous boy band, One Direction. His departure from the band was all over the news last year, and I wont' lie, I felt bad for him. Not because he left the band, but because of what that meant for him in the public eye. It marked him as a huge target for papparzi and press, and I just feel so bad for him because he had to live in that public eye for so long. Which is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave. To live his life more quietly. So that of course, is a consequence of his level of fame. But on the other hand, we have his more quiet and surprising side.
