Bag Raiders and Alphabeat

Today I have music for you by the band Bag Raiders. Now a lot of people may know this band because of their huge hit "Shooting Stars," however, there is so much more to this band than you can even fathom. Bag Raiders is one of those bands that has no boundaries to their music. Bag Raiders traverses all kinds of electronic scales and synthpop areas. On one hand you have songs like the one mentioned earlier. And then you have songs like this one. Songs that are so energetic and lively and completely addicting. This song is just so catchy and vivacious and exciting! There are a lot of different and incredible things happening with this song. Now this duo is out of Australia and with this song you can kind of hear that coastal and beach-like influence. However, we also get a more tribal and tropical beat which I would like to attribute to an Aboriginal tribute. I could be wrong, but I like how Bag Raiders incorporates different aspects of the Australian culture in this song, whether they meant to or not. Now I am going to break down different parts of the song to kind of describe the awesomeness that is this song. First, the vocals. This song is sung by Dan Black who is actually a singer out of London. Honestly, I think his voice is absolutely perfect for this song. There is a dreaminess to his voice, a sort of laid back sound, but there is also this sense of building energy and life. His tone and sound reminds me a little bit of Matthew Koma. But with Dan Black, we get that wonky pop sound that he is so famous for. He brings a little bit of his own uniqueness to accompany the sort of strangeness that comes with the Bag Raiders. This song flirts with the house style of beats a bit and dabbles in a little bit of funk work as well. But when you put the two together it sounds absolutely phenomenal! There is also enough synth work to make anyone happy! See the thing with Bag Raiders is that they are heavy users of synth, but use it in moderation at the same time. Their music does not over use the synth and funk and electronic sounds to the point where they become annoying or overtake the purpose of the song. There is just the right amount of everything to make this song deliciously sweet. Bag Raiders is definitely more of a low key group, but slowly they are starting to make headway into the mainstream market. Part of me is so happy for the success that looms on the horizon and the other part of me may be a little sad to see how many people will realize what they have been missing out on. But, for now, all I can do is spread the word! Today's instrumental song is by the band Alphabeat. I am pretty sure most of you have never heard of this group before and that is perfectly okay! Here they are! This is a band that has this spirit like no other. They are spunky and lively and happy and bubbly and a little bit wonky but that is perfect! This is a band that clearly loves making music for the sake of making music. This Danish band has created a song that will make you feel so good and bright and incredible. This is one of those songs that makes me imagine the sun shining on my face as I go do something fun and exciting. This is one of those songs that can make you feel as if you are walking on air. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
