Today I have some music for you by the artist known as Beck. This song is incredible because not only is it a great sound, but it is a complete diversion from the style of Beck. This song is definitely one of my favorite songs by Beck because it is so different and has this air of depth to it. This song is very much like the ocean.  On the surface, it looks beautiful and soft, but then as the song continues and we hear more of the instruments, the tone of the song gets much deeper. It adds this darkness to the song and begins to sound contemplative, the same way the ocean gets darker the further down you go. The further you get through both the ocean and the song, there is an added sense of mystery. This song makes you feel like you are floating in the ocean, away from the coast and far from civilization. This song makes me feel like I am floating in dark water with the ribbons of clothing trailing out around me. It is one of those psychedelic songs that is that way because of the ...

Chris Malinchak & Mikky Ekko and Michael Jackson

Image
Today I have music by a DJ known as Chris Malinchak and features one of my favorite vocalists, Mikky Ekko. Chris Malinchak got some acclaim with his first big song and I can see why. This guy has really great talent in instrumentation and song production. The style of this song is so charming and has a great energy to it. This song sounds like what Michael Jackson hitting the electronic scene would sound like. Everything about this song captures the groovy disco and hip hop feel that Michael Jackson mastered and made his own. I could not stop dancing to this song no matter how many times I put it on repeat. Chris Malinchak has done a remarkable job with the instrumentation. The way he makes this song sound like a house song but also very funky is just genius. I honestly can't help but think that Michael Jackson had a great influence on this song. The moment Mikky Ekko opened his mouth to sing, all I could think about was how similar this sounds to 80's Michael Jackson music and...

Christina Aguilera & Skrux and Dan Flex

Today I have some music for you that is a remix of a song that I have been unable to get out of my head. This song was originally performed by T.I. and Christina Aguilera, but this remix features just her voice. Skrux and Collin McLoughlin turned this original rap song into a beautifully done melodic dubstep tune. And when I say beautiful, I really do mean it. This song is so wonderfully pieced together and produced. Skrux and Collin McLoughin turned this song into a darker, more emotional track, and I love that. Normally, dubstep is devoid of emotion, appealing to being an energetic and hype genre. But this rendition takes a more intense and serious turn, something that makes you remember those harder moments in life. When I hear this song, I actually think of a more futuristic battle scene, when everything is dark and people are fighting. And then the main "hero" looks back and sees everything that is happening, what is really going on around him. Honestly, this video's...

Collin McLoughlin and The 1975

Image
Today I have music for you by the singer known as Collin McLoughlin. So a quick background on this singer, he started out doing covers of different songs and artists. He became pretty YouTube famous, from which he then turned his eye towards bigger things. Auditioned for The Voice, was on Adam's team for a while, and then lost in the battle round. He was then stolen by Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, and ended up staying in the competition for a while. He was also the first artist to ever be stolen on the show, so that was pretty exciting. Fast forward a little bit and then we get to the song of the day. So Collin McLoughlin is clearly a gifted singer. I mean the guy has seen quite a bit of singing success. But did you know he also produces his own music? Yup, his debut album was completely self produced. The lyrics, composition, performance, and production were all done by Collin McLoughlin. Needless to say, this guy is not only musician goals, but also is a very talented human be...

Raye and Disclosure

Today I have a really smooth song for you by the artist Raye. She is definitely more of an underground artist, but I like that she is able to maintain that low key status for the sake of her music. Because let me tell you, her sound is really good. Raye is that weird transition from being melodic dubstep and R&B. Which is a strange combo, but somehow the two work really well together. When I hear this song, I am not immediately pulled into the R&B mindset, and I am not immediately drawn towards the electronic music ear. It is a nice tug from both ends, telling me that the song is really well balanced between the two. In a way, the feeling I get when I listen to this song is how I feel about a lot of songs by The 1975. They both have that ambient kind of sound, but Raye takes a little bit more of a sensual route. I mean I cannot deny that there is a dash of sexiness in this song, from the way she uses her breathier vocals and R&B style combined with the slower percussion bea...

Tyler Carter and Usher

Image
Today I have some music for you by a very very interesting artist. This song is by the singer Tyler Carter. He started out as a metal core band singer. He actually sang for the band Woe, Is Me which is a pretty hardcore band, I have to say. Now here is where it gets deliciously interesting. This song, this showcases the big surprise Tyler Carter sprung on us because his vocals make a complete turnaround. And when I say complete, I mean he jumped across the spectrum and landed on the other side. Because in this song, we get to hear how sexy and seductive his voice can be....as an R&B singer! What the actual heck?! Pretty great turn of events if you ask me, especially because I didn't see this coming whatsoever. I mean I have heard of punk going pop. I mean, there is even a series of albums that deal with that. But a metal singer going solo to sing R&B? Yeah that definitely is not a normal thing. And I absolutely LOVE it. Seriously, I love love love that! This is a beautiful ...
