Tyler Carter and Usher

Today I have some music for you by a very very interesting artist. This song is by the singer Tyler Carter. He started out as a metal core band singer. He actually sang for the band Woe, Is Me which is a pretty hardcore band, I have to say. Now here is where it gets deliciously interesting. This song, this showcases the big surprise Tyler Carter sprung on us because his vocals make a complete turnaround. And when I say complete, I mean he jumped across the spectrum and landed on the other side. Because in this song, we get to hear how sexy and seductive his voice can be....as an R&B singer! What the actual heck?! Pretty great turn of events if you ask me, especially because I didn't see this coming whatsoever. I mean I have heard of punk going pop. I mean, there is even a series of albums that deal with that. But a metal singer going solo to sing R&B? Yeah that definitely is not a normal thing. And I absolutely LOVE it. Seriously, I love love love that! This is a beautiful example of the dynamism and surprise and utter talent that seems to get overshadowed by the rest of popular music. I would have never guessed Tyler Carter was a metal singer had I not known he was part of a metal band. In this song his vocals are smooth as butter and take on that sweet and sensual feeling that comes with R&B. Tyler Carter has packed a lot of musical diversity into a really short span of time. He was a member of two successful metal bands before he hit 25, and is now showing off his skills with pop and R&B. Honestly, I cannot handle how damn good this song is and how wickedly smooth his vocals are! He gets up in that falsetto range and does so in that wonderful manner that kind of defines R&B. He adds in a little bit of electronic work to layer his own vocal harmonies on top of the main melody. And the more you listen to this song, the more you can hear just a hit of that alternative band voice. But he uses it in such a wonderful way because he blends it in so well with the background instrumentals. The most we really hear that punk rock-ish voice is during the chorus and when he goes to reach the higher notes. But even then, he is able to turn that sound into something that has rhythm and a little bit of sex appeal. This song really shows off the entire vocal range that Tyler Carter has. And it is quite the vocal range. He is definitely more of an upper range singer, but we get to hear a lot of his lower stuff as a bass harmony to the main melody. Tyler Carter has the charm and willingness to step outside the Warped Tour scene and create something different. He has created something so golden and possesses this magnetism and ability to shapeshift between genres. I think he could definitely hold up against the Justin Timberlake's and Jamie Foxx's of the world.I mean a great voice can only get you so far right? Tyler Carter has the voice and the production capabilities and the musicianship to pull this off. Perks of needing to know how to be a musician because you play in a band. He definitely borrows some beats and and electronic work for the EDM side of things, but uses it in moderation. The instrumental track is actually a lot simpler and the sophistication in the song comes from his own vocal ability. Tyler Carters vocals blend with the production, which usually includes a thumping bass line and buildup and EDM drop. But that complete electronic insanity never comes which is splendid because that is where Tyler Carter's vocals really swoop in and steal the show. Tyler Carter's entire solo album is out, and I really hope you all go listen to it because it is a magnificent piece of work. Today's instrumental song is by Usher, a guy who is not shy when it comes to using different instrumental techniques. This song has some electronic work thrown into the R&B mix, and honestly, compliments the stylistic elements of the first song on every level. I hope you enjoy the music and please feel free to comment!
